KBE/EPSB Research Practice Collaborative to hold second round of meetings

(FRANKFORT, KY) The Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) and Educator Professional Standards Board (EPSB) will conduct their second round of meetings under the jointly formed KBE/EPSB Research Practice Collaborative. The meetings will be held via video teleconference on March 10 (committee 2), March 11 (committee 1), and March 12 (committee 3). On March 10, committee 2 will begin at 4 p.m. ET. On March 11, committee 1 will begin at 5 p.m. ET. The March 12 (committee 3) session will begin at 5 p.m. ET.

KBE has statutory authority to manage all common or public schools in the Commonwealth and all programs operated in such schools.

The EPSB, in full collaboration and cooperation with its education partners, promotes high levels of student achievement by establishing and enforcing rigorous professional standards for preparation, certification, and responsible and ethical behavior of all professional educators in Kentucky.

The goal of the KBE/EPSB Research Practice Collaborative will be to gather insights from Kentucky education stakeholders on what drives educator retention, why mid-career teachers leave, and how vibrant classroom learning environments (especially in literacy and numeracy) influence teacher satisfaction and career persistence. Participants will include KBE members, EPSB members, KDE staff members, classroom educators, school and district administrators, educator preparation program faculty, and education-focused community stakeholders.

Members of the public may watch a livestream of the meetings on the KDE Media Portal. For further information concerning how KBE meetings are conducted, please view the KBE Policy Manual.

People with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations by noon ET on March 9 by emailing Taylor Perry (taylor.perry@education.ky.gov) or calling him at (502) 892-6174 ext. 4851.

Announcement of these meetings is pursuant to the Open Meetings Act.
