This updated version reflects Kentucky’s common language and six essential elements of MTSS. The status criteria and key features updates in version 2.0 maintain the content and structure of the previous version. The tool revisions focus on streamlined guidance, expanded action planning and additional resources for effective implementation.
The tool is designed to help school and district teams reflect on current practices and plan for short- and long-term action steps, making it easier for teams to:
- Discuss and identify strengths and areas for growth;
- Access embedded tools and templates for quick reference; and
- Develop actionable improvement plans.
Check out the KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool 2.0 for a full exploration of the resource.

Professional Learning Opportunities for Kentucky Educators
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) provides two statewide opportunities for educators to access professional learning to enrich practice and strengthen instructional impact. These include the KY Learning Hub and the Kentucky Professional Learning Bulletin Board (PLBB).
The KY Learning Hub is a free, centralized professional learning platform where Kentucky educators can access high‑quality, standards‑aligned training and resources. Educators simply log in with their district email and password to explore a range of PL offerings, including those supporting implementation of the Kentucky Academic Standards.
The Kentucky Professional Learning Bulletin Board (PLBB) highlights professional learning opportunities from KDE and other organizations, including self‑paced options and face‑to‑face sessions across the state. Educators can utilize the PLBB Catalog to filter offerings by content area or growth need. While the PLBB showcases available opportunities, per KRS 156.095 (8), listings do not represent KDE endorsement of any specific provider or program. Moreover, it is the local school district who determines if they are acceptable for credit based on their district policies. See 704 KAR 3:035 for more details.
