What: Educators Rising Kentucky is the career and technical student organization for middle and high school students interested in the field of education-related careers.
The conference features student competitions, including a signature event that highlights students’ “Educators Rising Moments.” In this powerful speech competition, students share the moment they realized they were called to a career in education.
Attendees who are not competing may choose from eight rigorous professional learning breakout sessions. This year’s experiences include hearing from Kentucky author Dorian Hairston, exploring perspectives on artificial intelligence, discovering unique learning experiences with the Kentucky Derby Museum, examining the power of positive relationships and more. The conference will also host a conference wide Crafts for a Cause service project, bringing together chapters from across Kentucky to create bracelets, bookmarks, shelter toys and kindness cards for their local communities.
This Grow Your Own approach remains a critical strategy in addressing Kentucky's teacher shortage.
When: 9-11 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 5
Where: Kentucky Exposition Center, 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville
Why: The mission of Educators Rising is to inspire and grow current and rising educators to become community leaders and advocates for high-quality education. The vision is to eliminate the teacher shortage by reimagining educator pathways. Educators Rising Kentucky partners with Phi Delta Kappa, a professional organization that supports teachers and school leaders by strengthening their interest in the profession through the entire arc of their careers.
Educators Rising seeks to create a clear pathway in every school district for young people who want to serve their communities as highly skilled educators.
Through this national network, students build resources and create connections that can significantly impact educational opportunities through co-curricular and extracurricular activities, participate in projects that assist educators and take part in performance-based competitions.
PLEASE NOTE: Members of the press are asked to sign in at the South Wing Lobby A registration tables and ask for Jennifer Ginn and Jarvis Terrell.
