Process for Requesting AKSA Visual Impairment (VI) Materials for Window 2
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) will provide tactilely enhanced supplemental materials (e.g., maps, graphs) for some grades on the Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) Attainment Tasks (ATs) to students who have verified visual impairments in their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). Districts should verify that a visual impairment is clearly marked on the current IEP and that the student meets all of Kentucky’s eligibility criteria for taking the alternate assessment as indicated in the current IEP. Once districts have verified the student’s eligibility, districts should complete the Visual Impairment (VI) Order Form. If a district has more than one eligible student, the form provides the opportunity for the district to add more students to the form.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, Feb. 6, to ensure districts receive materials for Window 2 of the AKSA. For any additional questions or concerns, please contact Krista Mullins. For questions regarding completing the VI Materials Request Form, please contact dacinfo@education.ky.gov.
AKSA Window 2 Materials Shipping Selection
KDE provides two shipping options for Window 2 of the AKSA to accommodate schools during spring break.
To select a preferred option, districts should complete and submit the 2026 AKSA Window 2 Shipping Selection Form by Friday, Feb. 13. If a form is not submitted by this date, materials will be shipped during the default option.
Upon receipt, please verify the contents of the shipment against the packing list within 72 hours of receipt to ensure all materials have been received. If the materials are not received by Monday, April 6 (Shipping Option 1) or by Monday, April 13 (Shipping Option 2), please email Krista Mullins.
Shipping options for AKSA Window 2 are the following:
Option 1: March 30-April 3 (default option)
Option 2: April 6-April 10

Spring 2026 SAT Junior State Administration – SAT Practice Resources for Students
College Board offers a variety of methods for students to practice ahead of the SAT test day with a registration ticket printed from Test Day Toolkit in early February. Test tickets are not considered secure test materials, so students may use them to access the practice materials in Bluebook up to test day. A short test preview of about 12 questions is available for students to gain familiarity with the universal tools, or students can access 7 full full-length practice tests. These tests are timed and scored, and students can view scores in My Practice. Also in My Practice, students can review questions, analyze performance, and continue practicing in Khan Academy.

Extended: Science Instruction and KSA Assessment Survey
KDE has partnered with research contractor HumRRO (Human Resources Research Organization), which is conducting a survey among Kentucky teachers, principals and district staff who provide or oversee science instruction. Individuals currently in one of these roles are encouraged to complete the survey.
All responses will be used as part of a study exploring the alignment between science instruction and the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) in Kentucky. Please note that participation is voluntary and, to respect privacy, all responses will remain anonymous. The results of the survey will be analyzed and reported in the findings.
The Kentucky Science Study survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. The deadline has been extended to Wednesday, Jan. 28. Participation in this important research effort is encouraged.
For questions regarding participation in this study, please contact Emily Dickinson at edickinson@humrro.org.
