Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices (ILPs) in Action added to the KY Learning Hub
The Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices (ILPs), embedded within the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Reading and Writing, provide tools for creating literacy-rich environments that empower independent, lifelong learners who think deeply and critically about text. ILPs guide teachers in offering intentional opportunities for students to practice the behaviors of a literate citizen across all disciplines beginning in Kindergarten.
Educators can now explore the ILPs in Action video series, along with a module and participant guide, at their own pace through KDE’s KY Learning Hub. This self-paced option allows for individual or collaborative engagement and may qualify for up to 3 hours of EILA credit or professional learning hours, if approved by the local district.

New Interactive Resource - VPA Student Assignment Library
A new standards implementation resource for Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) is now available for dance, media arts, music, theatre and visual arts! An interactive resource is designed to support you when implementing a high-quality, vibrant student learning experience aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Visual and Performing Arts.
This interactive resource includes a teacher notes document and an implementation PowerPoint. Together, they provide guidance, detailed procedures and all links, handouts, printables and graphics needed to successfully implement each segment of a learning experience aligned to the identified standard.
These resources were developed by discipline experts who are classroom teachers and/or experts in their arts discipline. Through accompanying videos, they provide guidance on what each segment of the learning experience looks like in the classroom with students.
The teacher notes document and implementation PowerPoint for each interactive resource are available on kystandards.org through the VPA Student Assignment Library. Learn more with this Introductory Video!
