A Sources of Strength Peer Leader Summit is scheduled for Oct. 24 at Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Leestown Campus, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET.
This event will bring together students from middle and high schools with Sources of Strength programs to connect students and their adult advisors from various schools to exchange ideas and learn and grow together. Activities will include team-building games, discussions and campaign planning centered around promoting hope, help and strength among their school community.
Sources of Strength is a peer led initiative designed to build resilience and a sense of belonging, and has shown effectiveness in preventing suicide, bullying and substance misuse.
The summit is a joint effort between the Kentucky Department of Education’s Division of Student Success and the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities’ Division of Substance Use Disorder, Prevention and Promotion Branch.
