Question of the Week
Q: Where can districts and testing staff find information about the Spring 2026 SAT Junior State Administration?
A: The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is pleased to share important information as Kentucky transitions to the SAT as the statewide college admissions exam.
Beginning in spring 2026, KDE has awarded a contract to College Board to administer the SAT Junior State Administration as the state-funded college admissions exam. Testing will take place during a six-week window from Mon., March 2, through Fri., April 10, 2026.
KDE and College Board have released Moving our Students Forward: Kentucky Welcomes the SAT, a short video overview designed to help Kentucky educators and students better understand the SAT as part of the statewide assessment program for high school students.
District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) are encouraged to share this information with school and district staff to help prepare for the transition.
For any questions regarding these updates, please contact Christen Roseberry.
Spring 2026 SAT Junior State Administration – Onboarding for Schools
School onboarding is the process through which eligible schools in Kentucky are set up for SAT School Day state-funded testing.
The College Board’s school onboarding process for SAT School Day will take place via the SAT Suite Ordering and Registration (SSOR) site.
Responsibilities:
- DACs are responsible for ensuring the survey is submitted for each school in their district.
- Once DACs have been granted access to SSOR, they may complete the survey on behalf of their schools or provide access for the building assessment coordinators (BACs) to complete it.
Districts and schools will be able to access the school setup survey in SSOR beginning Monday, Oct. 6. The form will remain open through Friday, Oct. 24, allowing schools to make updates to initial submissions. Additional details about College Board’s school setup process will be provided in future DAC newsletters.
Account Requirements
All staff who will use SSOR to support the Spring 2026 SAT Junior State Administration must have a College Board Professional Account.
- If testing staff does not have an account, please access the College Board account webpage to begin to complete this important task.
- Be sure to use a school or district email address and phone number when creating your account.
Additionally, the onboarding process will be the topic covered during the SAT Office Hour on Oct. 14. OAA and College Board staff will be available to assist with any issues schools have with the onboarding process.
For any questions, please contact Christen Roseberry.
Spring 2026 SAT Junior State Administration – Technical Guidance
As Kentucky transitions to the SAT Junior State Administration in spring 2026, technology staff play a critical role in ensuring a smooth digital testing experience. Two key platforms support administration: Test Day Toolkit for staff and Bluebook for students.
Test Day Toolkit will be used by test staff to manage and administer the SAT School Day. The platform is web-based and accessible on any device with an internet connection. Building and district assessment coordinators will be automatically provisioned access in early February 2026, after which the building assessment coordinator may extend access to additional test staff as needed.
Bluebook is the application students will use to take the SAT. Technology staff should review device requirements and download instructions in advance.
Additional technical resources are available to support preparation:
- Configure Your Network to Meet Requirements – Bluebook | College Board
-
Device Requirements Overview – Bluebook | College Board (with details for each device in the right-hand margin)
- Bluebook Installation Instructions by Device – Bluebook | College Board
- Technology Tasks to Complete Before Testing – Bluebook | College Board
- Bluebook Application Updates – Bluebook Technology | College Board
To help schools prepare, College Board will host a Technical Readiness Webinar on Jan. 15, 2026, from 10:00–11:15 a.m. ET. This session will walk through key setup and troubleshooting steps. DACs are encouraged to register for the KDE/College Board Technical Readiness Webinar and share the link with technology staff.

Reminder: Kentucky Alternate Assessment Program (KAAP) IC Pull for the Student Registration Database (SRD) and Career Readiness Database (CRD)
KDE will conduct an Infinite Campus (IC) data pull on Friday, Oct. 3, to populate the SRD with students identified for the Alternate Assessment. This IC pull will also provide a list of students for grades 12 and 14 working towards Career Work Experience Certification (CWEC) and the Employability Skills Assessment Record (ESAR).
To ensure accurate student records, districts must complete all updates in IC by close of business on this date. Specifically, districts should:
- Verify that all students who meet Kentucky’s Alternate Assessment Criteria are correctly marked in IC.
- Confirm that Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are locked to ensure proper population into the SRD and CRD.
For questions, please contact Krista Mullins.
