(ORLANDO, FLA.) – A group of 380 Kentucky FCCLA members and advisers joined more than 10,000 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) student members, advisers and guests at the Orlando Convention Center in July to participate in the annual National Leadership Conference (NLC).

The National Leadership Conference brought together thousands of student leaders from across the country to compete in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) events, participate in skill demonstrations and challenge tests, attend leadership workshops, and network with other FCCLA members.

Kentucky had 164 students compete in STAR events winning 50 gold medals, 91 silver and 17 bronze medals. Seventeen members participated in skill demonstrations, 20 were challenge test participants, and a Knowledge Bowl team competed at Nationals.

The Safe Rides, Save Lives PSA National Award Recipient was given to Emerson Moore from Mason County High School. RaAnn Miller from Woodford County High School received the Spirit of Advising Award. Kentucky had several Adviser Academy graduates, including Tara Chernoff, Ali Moore, Anna Holsclaw, Andrea Miller and Emily Pike.

Since 1946, Kentucky has had 20 National Officers. Kendall Slaughter and Sutton Sherrard joined that prestigious group as they were elected to serve on the 2025-2026 National Executive Council.

The National Leadership Conference provided 53 Kentucky Chapters with a dynamic experience that strengthened leadership skills, built career readiness and encouraged meaningful connections with peers nationwide. Through competitive events, workshops, and networking opportunities, they gained valuable insight into future career paths and the power of youth-led impact. Attendees look forward to applying these experiences to future leadership roles, continued involvement in FCCLA and creating positive change in their school and community.
