Question of the Week
Q: When will Spring Rosters close in the Student Data Review and Rosters application?
A: The Student Data Review and Rosters (SDRR) application will close for new change requests related to ACCESS, Alternate ACCESS, Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA), Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA), and Postsecondary Readiness on Wednesday, June 11, at 5 p.m. ET.
Before Spring Rosters close in SDRR, the following actions must be completed:
- Review and update 100-day students for accountability
- File nonparticipation requests for students
- Add or delete students from the roster as appropriate
- Make annotations concerning students for district use only
- Mark accommodations for Individual Education Program (IEP) or Program Services Plan (PSP) students
- Annotate and delete any student who withdrew prior to the testing window
Any incomplete tickets at the time of closure will be denied; however, they may be requested again during the Fall Data Review period if necessary.
For assistance with 100-day entity questions, use the 100-DAY TOOL. Additionally, the Help Button within SDRR provides frequently updated information to support school and district staff with this process.
For questions about SDRR Spring Rosters, please contact Chris Williams or Ben Riley.
Reminder: K Screen Train the Trainers July 15 In-Person Session for New Staff
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), in partnership with Curriculum Associates, will host an in-person Train the Trainers session for new Kindergarten Screen Coordinators on Monday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET at the Sower Building in Frankfort. This six-hour session is required for any new K Screen coordinators who will be responsible for delivering the three-hour BRIGANCE K Screen III training to teachers and district staff. This training is only required for new coordinators and is a crucial step in preparing them to support the implementation of the BRIGANCE K Screen across their districts.
To support active participation, attendees are asked to bring:
- A copy of the K&1 Screen III
- The manipulatives (blocks and shapes)
- Children’s books with at least three pages of text per page
As a reminder, the BRIGANCE K Screen implementation requires specific training for all roles:
-
New district trainers must attend the full six-hour TOT session. Returning trainers must complete an annual refresher webcast provided by KDE.
-
Staff new to administering the screen must complete a three-hour training, led by certified district trainers, either in person or virtually.
-
Experienced screen administrators are required to attend yearly refresher training, with content and delivery determined locally.
-
Data entry personnel using the BRIGANCE Online Management System (OMS) must complete a two-hour online video series, with refresher training assigned at district discretion.
-
Staff entering prior settings data in Infinite Campus must annually review the KDE training video and refer to the Infinite Campus K Screen Reference Guide.
All training must be completed prior to the start of screening, and documentation (including sign-in sheets and implementation agreements) should be kept on file for one year.
Registration for the July 15 session is open and will close at 5 p.m. ET on July 11 or once the capacity of 35 participants is reached. Attendees will earn 6 hours of Effective Instructional Leadership Act (EILA) credit.
For those unable to attend in person, KDE will offer a virtual Train the Trainers session on August 27 and 28.
Please contact Tiffany Christopher with any questions regarding K Screen training.
Reminder: Replacing K Screen Materials Damaged by Spring Storms
KDE and Curriculum Associates recognize the challenges districts and schools may be facing in the wake of recent flooding and storm damage. To assist with the recovery process, KDE is offering a pathway for districts to request replacement K Screen materials that were damaged due to storms experienced throughout the Spring semester.
If the current district order for 2025-2026 K Screen materials or materials already in the district’s possession, such as reusable teacher kits, manipulatives, or student data sheets from prior years, were affected due to flooding or storm damage, please complete the following Google form to request replacements.
This form will help KDE and Curriculum Associates assess the needs and coordinate the appropriate support. KDE understands the burden that natural disasters can place on schools and communities and is here to assist districts through the process.
If districts have questions or need further assistance, please contact Tiffany Christopher.
Reminder: High School Feedback Reports (HSFR) Now Available
New High School Feedback Reports are available for review.
The Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS) is providing High School Feedback Reports (HSFR) for the graduating class of 2023 for district review. The review window is through Tuesday, July 1, with the public release planned for early July. DACs are being provided with a URL and password to access the reports and are asked to download these reports and share with principals and superintendents for review. Access to these reports is through a KYSTATS weblink provided below.
This year, districts are asked to review the report on college going and success for the high school graduating class of 2023. The report compares student outcomes including in-state college-going rates, types of schools attended, how students performed in their first year at in-state public colleges and universities and financial aid received by students.
These reports should be considered DRAFT; all district reports are currently viewable through the link, but reports may change if data issues are found. These draft reports are for internal review only and should not be shared until public release.
If you have questions, please contact Barrett Ross at KYSTATS.
