Q: When is the next K Screen Train the Trainers Session Scheduled?
A: The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), in collaboration with Curriculum Associates, will conduct an in-person Train the Trainers session for Kindergarten Screen Coordinators from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 15. The session will take place at the Sower Building in Frankfort.
This required training is specifically designed for newly designated Kindergarten Screen Coordinators who will be responsible for delivering the three-hour K Screen training to educators and district personnel. Participation is limited to individuals serving in this new coordinator role.
To fully engage in the session, attendees should bring the following materials:
- A copy of the K&1 Screen III
- K Screen manipulatives (packages of blocks and shapes)
- Children’s books containing at least three pages of text per page
Registration for the Train the Trainers session is now open. Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m. ET on Friday, July 11, or until the session reaches its maximum capacity of 35 participants. Eligible attendees will receive six hours of Effective Instructional Leadership Act (EILA) credit. For those unable to attend the in-person training, a virtual session will be offered in August.

Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) Office Hour
The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA), in collaboration with Pearson, will host the third and final KSA office hour session on Wednesday, May 14. Pearson will provide a tutorial to assist District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) and Building Assessment Coordinators (BACs) with tasks to be completed in PearsonAccessnext (PAN) including removing students from sessions that did not test, marking students complete, stopping sessions and mailing back paper materials. DACs, BACs and all test administrators can ask questions and receive assistance during this time. Questions can be submitted prior to the office hour using the KSA Office Hour Form. Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) Office Hour #2
The second AKSA Office Hour, titled Preparing for the End of the Assessment, is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, from 1 p.m.-2p.m. ET. This session is designed for DACs, BACs, Directors of Special Education (DoSE), and all teachers/test administrators involved in the AKSA administration. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions as districts prepare for the end of the testing window. Sherri Craig from the Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE) will be joining the Office Hour to address the Career Work Experience Certification (CWEC) and Employability Skill Attainment Record (ESAR).
