ACT Spring 2025 Junior State Administration – State Use Question Reminder
As a reminder, with the ACT spring 2025 junior state administration complete, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and ACT want to ensure testing staff are aware of and are in compliance with the KDE Parental Consent Policy. This policy requires school staff to answer a state use question in PearsonAccessnext (PAN) for examinees under the age of 18 who did not obtain parental consent to opt into the Educational Opportunity Service (EOS) system and/or select score recipients during the non-test activity.
If not already completed, testing staff are encouraged to review the information outlined within the Administration Supplement to gather instructions for answering the state use question and complete this task as soon as possible.
For questions and assistance, please contact Christen Roseberry.
KSA Script Error
The OAA has been informed of a typo in the Grade 5 and Grade 8 On-Demand scripts. While the proctor’s script remains accurate, an error exists in the notes provided to the administrator. Specifically, the notes incorrectly reference “60 minutes” instead of the correct “90 minutes.”
This error is located on page 46 of the Grade 5 script and page 47 of the Grade 8 script. The impacted text reads:
“At the discretion of the District Assessment Coordinator, schools may decide to allow groups or individual students to continue testing beyond 60 (should be 90) minutes, provided they have been on-task during the initial testing period.”
Pearson is currently in the process of correcting this issue. Updated scripts will be available on the KY Portal by Tuesday, April 29.
Districts that have already printed the scripts do not need to reprint them. Instead, administrators should ensure that proctors are informed of the correction. The error can be easily addressed by marking it out and adjusting it manually.
OAA appreciates the prompt attention and cooperation in supporting a smooth testing process.
