Integrating Deeper Learning and HQIR to Strengthen Tier 1 Instruction: Modules 2 and 3 Now Available!
The first big idea of United We Learn’s vision for the future of public education in Kentucky is “creating a more vibrant experience for every student.” How do educators provide vibrant student learning experiences? What is needed to establish a system that supports these types of opportunities within Tier 1 instruction? The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is creating a series of resources designed to build understanding of the interaction between deeper learning and a local curriculum through the lens of learning science to help provide vibrant learning experiences for all students.
The Power of Coaching at Robert B. Turner Elementary
In 2023, Robert B. Turner Elementary in Anderson County embarked on a transformative journey with the help of a Math Achievement Fund (MAF) grant. This funding allowed the school to adopt a high-quality instructional resource (HQIR) and dedicate time and resources to instructional coaching, with a mathematics coach supporting teachers directly in their classrooms. From providing feedback and modeling evidence-based practices to leading workshops and professional learning communities, the coach ensures that instructional strategies align with the Kentucky Academic Standards for Mathematics and meet the diverse needs of students.
Applications sought for Social Studies Standards and Assessment Review committees
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is accepting applications for the Social Studies Standards and Assessment Review Committee (RC) and Advisory Panels (AP).
KRS 158.6453 calls for KDE to implement a process for reviewing all academic standards and aligned assessments beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. The review process for the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Social Studies will begin in April.
