Question of the Week
Q: Have the replacement field test tasks for District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) binders for Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) shipped?
A: Yes, the replacement Reading Grade 4 Field Test Form 2 task was mailed to districts on Friday, Nov. 15. It had been brought to the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE) attention that, in some district-level binders for AKSA Window 1, there was a printing error in the Grade 4 Reading Field Test Form 2 (the wrong grade was included in its place). The field test tasks are found after the operational assessment tasks in each content area and are provided in numerical order (e.g., Form 1, Form 2, Form 3). This error impacts only the district-level binder. School-level binders are accurate.
At this time, please ensure that no copies of the Reading Grade 4 Field Test Form 2 are made from the district-level binder. DACs will receive a corrected Reading Grade 4 Field Test Form 2 task to replace the incorrect task.
Upon receipt of the corrected task, please securely destroy the task currently provided in the place of Reading Grade 4 Field Test Form 2, as the incorrect grade level form is still considered secure test materials. Once the materials have been received and replaced, districts may make copies as needed.
ACT’s Fee Waiver Program for ACT National Tests Information
ACT’s Fee Waiver Program provides an opportunity for students currently enrolled in high school in grades 11 and 12 that meet certain eligibility requirements to take the ACT National test for free up to four times during the school year. The program is specific to the individual student’s eligibility. Along with fee waivers, the student also receives free access to learning resources, test information release, additional score reports, and may also request waiver or deferral of college admission applications fee directly to the college they are applying to.
Information on how students can apply for the fee waiver is available on the ACT Fee Waiver Program website. Please be aware that a fee waiver request is only associated with that particular test attempt. Each additional test attempt would require a separate fee waiver request (no more than four total test attempts are allowed during a school year under the ACT Fee Waiver program).

Superintendent Assurances for House Bill 6 (2024) Website Requirements Available in GMAP
The 10-day regulatory data review period after public release closed on Oct. 14. All approved data review changes were applied and updated data sets were provided to District Assessment Coordinators on Nov. 12. A “Ranking and Percentages” spreadsheet was included in the files.
If there were changes to a district’s reading and mathematics proficient and distinguished percentages from the Oct. 3 release, this finalized data should be used to update student performance information on each district and school website, as required by House Bill 6 (2024). See the House Bill 6 (2024) Requirement to Report Academic Performance on Websites guidance document for more information.
As a reminder, the data should be displayed for each level (elementary, middle and high) of the school or district as provided in the spreadsheet, not averaged or otherwise calculated differently.
Please ensure that the updated student performance percentages are reflected on school and district websites by Nov. 26.
Beginning with the 2023-2024 student performance results, superintendents must provide assurance that the required data has been posted on the district and school websites.
The Superintendent Assurances for House Bill 6 (2024) Website Requirements are currently available in the Grants Management Application and Planning System (GMAP). The assurances are in GMAP under Application Supplements, Fiscal 2024: House Bill 6 2024 District Website Requirements Assurances.
To access the assurances, the superintendent (not a designee) must change Status to Started. Access the assurance by selecting it in the Description section. After completing the assurance, change Status to Approved to submit.
The assurances must be submitted by Dec. 15.
For questions about the assurances requirement, please contact the DAC information email inbox.
For GMAP guidance on submitting assurances, please contact Lindsay McCullom via the KDE GMAP email inbox.
