Kentucky Awarded the Federal 2024 Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Kentucky a five-year, $54.9 million Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) grant to enhance literacy skills across the state. Renamed Kentucky Comprehensive Literacy 2025 (KyCL 25), the program will provide competitive funding to districts, focusing on underserved students, including those in poverty, English learners, and students with disabilities. This funding aims to improve literacy through high-quality instructional resources and curriculum based professional learning for all levels.

Revised Kentucky Academic Standards for Visual and Performing Arts adopted into Law
After undergoing a rigorous revision process that began in the winter of 2021, the revised Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Visual and Performing Arts have been adopted into law.
The newly adopted standards are effective in law and shall be implemented in Kentucky public schools no later than the second academic year following the review process. The KAS for Visual and Performing Arts can be accessed on KYstandards.org.

Feedback Sought on Kentucky Reading and Writing Standards
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is seeking feedback on the Kentucky Academic Standards for Reading and Writing.
Participants are provided with the opportunity to give feedback on all standards or self-selected areas of interest. Feedback on the current reading and writing standards will be collected by the American Institute for Research through November 30.

Call for Early Literacy and Numeracy Screening and Diagnostic Assessment Submissions
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has engaged in a comprehensive process to identify valid and reliable universal screeners and diagnostic assessments for reading and numeracy as required by KRS 158:305 and KRS 158.8402. New submissions will be considered annually for inclusion on the KDE-approved lists.
The submission window for the 2024-2025 academic year will be Nov. 1, 2024, through Nov. 29, 2024.
