Individual KSA and AKSA Student Data Now Available in PAN
The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA), in collaboration with Pearson, has released individual student assessment results for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) and Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA). The following reports are available in Pearson Access Next (PAN):
- Combined Kentucky Summative Assessments School Listing (District level)
- Kentucky Summative Assessment District School Listing Data File (District level)
- Kentucky Summative Assessments School Listing (School level)
To access reports, please refer to the directions on pages 27-30 of the PAN Navigational Instructions. This instruction guide, located on the KYPortal under Pearson Access Next Guidance Documents will be a valuable tool for new District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) just learning about PAN.
The KSA and AKSA student data may be shared with teachers and administrators who have an educational interest in the student (i.e., to prepare for instruction, identify strengths and areas for growth, etc.). OAA does not require that districts have teachers sign an Embargoed Data Non-Disclosure Statement for this data. The Embargoed Data Non-Disclosure covers summary data and reports that are shared publicly. However, the data available in PAN is individual student data. To comply with FERPA laws, individual student data is never released to the media or shared publicly.
When paper versions of the Individual Student Reports are available in late September, results may be shared with students and parents.
For questions about data release or assistance accessing reports, please contact dacinfo@education.ky.gov.
ACT Fall 2024 State Senior Administration
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and ACT have worked to finalize the 2024-2025 school year ACT contract, which includes the specific details of the fall administration, and all dates are confirmed.
Limits are placed on the ACT college admissions exam sale for grade 11 and 12 students through the ACT District Testing program. ACT’s District Testing program is separate and unique from KDE’s state testing program and, at this time, may only be used to administer the ACT to grades 9 and 10 students. Districts and schools will see that the option to enroll grades 11 and 12 students has been eliminated from the district enrollment form for ACT college entrance exam testing, and districts and schools will continue to be responsible for all funding for their participation in the ACT District Testing program in the fall of 2024 and/or spring of 2025.
The fall 2024 Senior administration is an optional opportunity for all public-school grade 12 students; therefore, it is not mandatory. However, it is expected that every district/school will offer this ACT fall senior administration opportunity to its students.

ACT Fall 2024 State Senior Administration: Test Accessibility and Accommodations Portal Open Now!
ACT’s Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) portal, accessed via the Success Site, is open for the Fall 2024 Senior Administration for accommodations and supports initial requests or associations. ACT and KDE encourage testing staff to request new accommodations and supports or associate students who were previously approved for accommodations and supports to meet key deadline dates in preparation for the start of the fall 2024 senior administration. Step 3 of the ACT-hosted State Testing Website contains comprehensive information about requesting new or associating previously approved accommodations and supports. This includes helpful resources such as the TAA User Guide and Retesting with Accommodations.
Please ensure that testing staff involved with requesting new or associating previously approved accommodations and supports are aware that TAA is open. For questions and assistance, please contact ACT at 800.553.6244, ext. 1788 or email ACTStateAccoms@act.org. Additionally, you may contact Christen Roseberry with any questions, concerns or assistance.
Senate Bill (SB) 9 Guidance
Senate Bill 9 (2022) Implementation Timeline - Read to Succeed (ky.gov) provides guidance that beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, if a student does not score in the proficient performance level or higher in reading on the state annually required grade three assessment, the local school district shall provide:
- Enrichment programs in grade 4 using evidence-based reading instruction; or
- Intensive instructional services, progress monitoring measures and supports to students in grade 4; and
- Written notification of the interventions and supports to the parent or legal guardian of the student to include a reading improvement plan, as defined under KRS 158.305(1)(i), for students in grade 4.
Districts should use the student-level data provided today in Pearson Access Next (PAN), to determine interventions. The bill also requires districts to notify parents and legal guardians of the interventions; the notification to parents may contain the student’s performance level (i.e. novice or apprentice). Individual student reports (ISR) will be provided to parents closer to public reporting. ISRs are not provided today since they contain aggregate data. Districts and schools may provide parents with the Read At Home Plan Family Guide to support their student(s).
