Q: Are new resources on assessment and accountability available for the 2024-2025 school year?

A: Yes. The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) is proud to release the Back-to-School trainings. The PowerPoint presentations and videos includes an overview of Kentucky’s school accountability system and details of upcoming assessments.

Fall Reporting-Data Review Resources

The Data Review period will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The deadline to submit new tickets is Wednesday, Aug. 14, at noon. The Data Review period allows schools and districts a final opportunity to change individual student level data prior to the public data release in Open House. Fall Reporting Data Review PowerPoint and video have been recorded to assist districts and schools in this process on the Student Data Review and Reporting Application (SDRR) web page. OAA will release more details about the Fall Reporting-Data Review in an upcoming Monday DAC Email.

Kindergarten ACCESS Field Test 2025: Recruitment is Open

WIDA is redesigning Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs to incorporate the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, 2020 Edition. Any organization redesigning an assessment must undergo a rigorous, research-based test development process, which includes field testing.

The Kindergarten ACCESS Field Test 2025 is a one-time standalone test administered by participating test administrators from Jan. 21 to March 28, 2025, after the operational Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs test. The field test consists of newly developed test items. After the field test, experts determine which test items worked as planned and discern new test items' difficulty levels. This feedback is incorporated into the final, redesigned Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs.

WIDA needs 2,000 English learners in kindergarten and 2,000 English learners in first grade to participate in the field test. Data from first-grade participation will help WIDA better align student growth expectations and connect Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs to ACCESS for ELLs (Grades 1-12). Field Test participation is voluntary.

If school staff want to apply to participate in the Kindergarten Field Test this year, please discuss with the administrators/district first. Not only will schools reap the benefits of a brand-new, totally redesigned Kindergarten ACCESS in 2025-2026 (goodbye, bulky activity board!), but all sites that participate will receive $100 per participating student. Please complete the field test participation survey. WIDA will contact selected participants on a rolling basis throughout August and September.

Assessment Scores in Infinite Campus

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) strives to publish student results data in Infinite Campus (IC) as it becomes available.  KDE will publish 2023-2024 Advanced Placement and SAT scores to districts beginning on Tuesday, July 31.
