Question of the Week
Q: What guidance is available for schools and districts on House Bill 6 accountability reporting requirements?
A: The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is providing guidance related to House Bill 6, which became effective upon passage during the 2024 legislative session. House Bill 6 requires each local board of education and each school to prominently display information to the district and school webpages about their students’ most recent performance on the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA). The bill requires posting results from the “most recent Kentucky Summative Assessment.” Using the 2022-2023 data allows for timely compliance with the bill already in effect. The deadline to update websites is August 1, 2024.
Note: Results from the spring 2024 KSA testing will not be available until late summer or early fall.
To support districts in meeting these requirements, the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) has made available to District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) data files in the Student Data Detail section of the Secure Web Application. The spreadsheet titled SD23_XXX_Ranking_P and D Percentage_District Name_20240610 contains percentages of students performing at proficient or distinguished on the 2022-2023 KSA including rank order information for schools within each district.
Shara Savage provided an overview on House Bill 6 during the DAC Webcast – June 2024 | KDE MEDIA PORTAL (ky.gov).
For questions about data content, contact the KDE Office of Assessment.
WIDA Non-Disclosure and User Agreement
The first time any educator working with ELs logs in to the WIDA Secure Portal on or after July 1, educators will be prompted to agree to the Non-Disclosure and User Agreement (NDUA). As a reminder, educators will not be able to view secure materials and resources without first agreeing to the NDUA.
A signed copy of the NDUA should be given to the DAC and kept on file within the district office.
Contact the DAC in the district for a WIDA Secure Portal account.
