Question of the Week
Q: How do DACs and BACs transfer students between districts within the PearsonAccessnext (PAN) system?
A: District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) and Building Assessment Coordinators (BACs) should create a Work Request in PAN when a new student transfers to the district. Please refer to the directions for “New Students to District” located on page 28 in the 2024 Spring KSA Test Administration Manual. Directions are available for transferring students between schools in the same district and new students to the state. Pearson is encouraging DACs and BACs to look for Work Requests within PAN upon each login. Work requests are indicated by a red bell in the black page toolbar. There are currently many work requests for student transfers within PAN that need to be addressed.
If you have any questions, please contact Pearson Kentucky Customer Service at 888-437-1430.
KSA DAC/BAC Certification of Proper Test Administration Forms
Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) DAC and BAC Certification forms are available and can be found on the KSA webpage as well as the Assessment Support Forms page. These forms require that DACs and BACs certify responsibilities were met throughout the spring 2024 KSA administration. All DACs must remit to the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) the completed Certification of Proper Test Administration form through Google Forms. Submissions via email will not be accepted. Certification of Proper Test Administration forms are due within 2 weeks after the district test window closes.
ACT Spring 2024 Junior Administration - Test Window #2 Concluding Soon
With test window 2 closing soon (online testing and accommodations and supports paper testing concluding on April 5), testing staff may find particular interest and value in being aware of the following information:
-
Prepare Materials for Return. Return test window 2 test materials as soon as testing is complete. Per the Schedule of Events, the pre-scheduled pickup date is April 8, and the receipt deadline is April 12. Additional information about preparing materials for return can be found in the Test Coordinator Information Manual and its section titled “Collecting, Packing, and Returning Materials after Testing.” There are resources and training tutorials posted within Step 6 of the ACT-hosted testing website that testing staff should review to ensure there is awareness of the process for collecting, storing, and returning materials after testing concludes. This includes the training tutorial on How to Return Online Test Materials.
-
Schedule Online Test Sessions (if needed). If there are students that will test later in the window, schedule those online test sessions. Step 4 of the ACT-hosted testing website contains helpful resources about creating online test sessions. This includes the ACT Administration Online Manual and training tutorial on how to create and assign test sessions.
-
Track Test Materials Shipments. Testing staff can track test materials shipments using Orders and Shipment Tracking in PearsonAccessnext (PAN). Instructions can be found in the “View Status and Shipment Information” section of the PAN User Guide.
Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) Window 2 Opens Monday, April 15
The AKSA testing window 2 Attainment Tasks (AT) administration will begin on Monday, April 15. Content standards for reading, mathematics, science, social studies and writing will be assessed. Field Tests will take place in all tested grade levels for reading, mathematics, social studies and writing. No tasks may be administered before Monday, April 15.
Instruction may continue into the testing window if the content provided is not derived from the actual Attainment Tasks being administered. Once the task administration begins, all instruction for that standard should cease until after the task administration has been completed. The testing window will end on May 24. DACs may collect school-level materials and destroy them after May 31.
Any makeup tests for Window 1, not yet administered, may continue into Window 2. To request a makeup of Window 1 during Window 2, please complete the AKSA Window 1 Makeup During Window 2 Form. For questions about administering the second AKSA window or a makeup for the first window, please contact krista.mullins@education.ky.gov.
Student Registration Database (SRD) Opens Monday for AKSA, April 15
Score entry for the Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) in the SRD for test Window 2 will officially open on April 15. Teachers who had access to enter scores during Window 1 will continue to have access for score entry during Window 2. DACs or anyone with district-level rights will have the same level of access that was provided during the first window. If a student has moved into your district, please email krista.mullins@education.ky.gov with the SSID number, new district name, and new school’s name for the student to be transferred in SRD. Similar to Window 1, administrators entering scores will be prompted to choose a field test form number prior to entering scores in SRD. The last day for any type of score entry into the SRD will be Friday, May 31.
