Question of the Week
Q: Are new spreadsheets available to include unsuppressed data for Quality of School Climate and Safety (QSCS) for schools?
A: Based on requests from districts for additional QSCS data for instructional planning, the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) is providing updated spreadsheets. These additional data have no impact on public reporting in the School Report Card (SRC).
The spreadsheets will include three additional columns in red, Columns O, P and Q. Under the Suppressed Results, the headings for each column are, Column O (Strongly Disagree/Disagree), Column P (Agree/Strongly Agree), and Column Q (Question Index). To maintain the security, responses for the suppressed data were combined, (Strongly Disagree/Disagree) and (Agree/Strongly Agree).
To comply with FERPA laws and protect students’ confidentiality, individual student level data will not be included in the spreadsheets. Where possible, data previously suppressed are now available in the revised spreadsheets. The spreadsheets will not include the counts for the QSCS.
Note: Data may still be suppressed if the following three conditions exist;
- If Column H (Suppression) has “N/A”, no student responded to the question, so all fields are blank.
- < 10 students responded, so all 3 of the suppressed fields will have “---”
- All students responded with the same response; the suppressed percentages will have “---” but the Question Index will be shown.
Districts may access the updated spreadsheets in the Secure Web Application portal.
