Kentucky Multi-Tiered System of Supports (KyMTSS) Four-Part Video Collection
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) recently released a KyMTSS four-part video collection, located on KyMTSS.org under the Resource Library Tab. The videos may be watched in any order and provide enriching learning experiences to expand the collective understanding of MTSS.
Each of the videos addresses key topics, best practices and practical strategies related to MTSS. Whether you are an individual or part of a team, these videos and accompanying documents provide a comprehensive understanding of the MTSS Framework.
To support the learning experience, each video has accompanying facilitator and participant guides. Each guide references additional tools and resources to extend the learning. The documents serve as references that complement the video content and assist in applying the information in your specific context.
Please share this valuable resource with others in your school and district to expand MTSS understanding, raise awareness and encourage engagement.
KyMTSS Key Resource
The KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool
The new school year is a great time for MTSS teams to use the KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool to guide MTSS implementation. This resource, designed to support district and school leaders and teams responsible for MTSS implementation, provides a mechanism for rich discussions and action planning.
The tool, aligned with Kentucky’s six essential elements, uses the elements to drive systematic change. Additionally, it provides a structure that assists with resource identification and action planning.
The KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool is organized into six sections and embeds a mini-action planning section with each of the six essential elements. The tool primarily limits a key feature to one essential element to keep the document manageable and user friendly. In practice, all features may be applied to multiple essential elements in an effective MTSS framework.
KyMTSS Self-Assessment Suggestions for Use
- Teams administer the KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool annually to establish a baseline and to monitor implementation progress at the organizational level.
- Teams administer an essential element of the KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool to guide the implementation of a given essential element.
- Teams, MTSS leads or administrators can use the KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool to highlight key terms for common language and core concepts of the KyMTSS Framework, including the six essential elements.
