Question of the Week
Missing Assessment Scores
KDE is working with Infinite Campus to resolve issues with the delivery of assessment scores to districts. Currently, some scores that were previously loaded and pushed down to district databases are not locally available. Several assessment scores (i.e., ACT Jr.) have failed to be delivered. KDE is using a workaround to republish the scores that is slower than the normal process. We appreciate your patience as KDE works to get the assessment scores successfully pushed down to districts.
In the meantime, assessment scores are available on KDE reports that pull assessment details from Infinite Campus State Edition. An example is the Benchmark Report. The KDE Reporting Quick Reference Guide provides details on other KDE-published reports. Reports that include assessment details from State Edition can be used to see assessment results until the scores are available on the district’s Infinite Campus site.
A KSIS Notification will be sent out when the assessment score push-down process has been completed for the 2022-2023 assessment data. If you have questions or concerns, contact KDE Data Services by email. For additional information please review the September issue of the KSIS Newsletter.
ACT Fall 2023 State Senior (Optional) Administration: State Testing Office Hour – Sept. 6, 2023
OAA and ACT will be hosting an office hour session on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. ET, which will focus on ensuring sites are ready from an online technology perspective to administer the ACT and to provide information about the non-test activity in MyACT. The session will be hosted via a Microsoft Teams meeting. While the content will be focused on those specific tasks, KDE and ACT encourage testing staff to attend and ask any questions they may have at this time. Please be sure to provide testing staff with this Sept. 6 Teams Meeting Link for the upcoming session. If you have any questions, please contact Shara Savage.
ACT Fall 2023 State Senior (Optional) Administration: Request Accommodations Deadline Approaching
If initial requests or associations of pin for ACT-authorized accommodations and supports have not been completed, ACT and OAA strongly encourage schools and districts to submit requests in the Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) system prior to the deadline. This will help ensure that testing staff has ample time to provide ACT with any additional information and documentation that may be needed to secure the authorized accommodations and supports. The deadline to complete this task is Sept. 1. ACT will not authorize accommodations or English learner supports for your Kentucky testing event if the request is submitted after this deadline unless the request qualifies for an exception (e.g., new student move into school/district, new diagnosis, etc.).
ACT Fall 2023 State Senior (Optional) Administration: Verify Enrollment Deadline Approaching
ACT and OAA strongly encourage schools and districts to verify that the list of students enrolled is accurate in PearsonAccessnext (PAN) by August 25. On that date, ACT will use the student information in PAN to produce barcode labels and personalized non-test instructions. It is important to keep accurate enrollment information in PAN as enrollment information will also influence what is printed and shipped to schools prior to testing.

WIDA Standards Implementation Study
WIDA is conducting a survey to better understand how educators make sense of and implement the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition. The survey will take approximately 25 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey, there is an optional extension opportunity for educators who wish to further engage with WIDA on this topic.
Participation in this study will provide the opportunity to lift your voice and inform future development of resources and professional learning.
WIDA encourages interested educators to complete the survey by Friday, Oct. 2.
New Focus Bulletin: Words for Science Learning: Which Words and When?
When educators think of language instruction in science, the traditional practice of pre-teaching vocabulary comes to mind. WIDA’s new Focus Bulletin Words for Science Learning: Which Words and When? builds on new research and offers resources for embedding vocabulary instruction into students’ participation in the science and engineering practices.
