Greetings!
It’s hard to believe the beginning of a new school year is quickly approaching. The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) and myself hope you have been able to enjoy some time with your family and friends this summer.
I am excited to be joining the team at OAA as a program consultant. My name is Krista Mullins and I have been in the education field for over 20 years and have been blessed to serve as a classroom teacher, District Instructional Specialist, MTSS Lead, and Admissions and Release Committee Chairperson. I will be overseeing the Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA).
There will be several trainings and updates coming in the next several weeks. Scale Scores
The AKSA for the first time is moving away from reporting a raw score to a scale score reporting system. This method of reporting will align with other assessments including the ACT and the Kentucky Summative Assessments (KSA). Scaling and reporting will focus on equating the items and providing consistency from year to year. The scale scores for AKSA will be reported on a scale of 150-250. Please be advised that the 2023 AKSA results will be reported using these new scale scores. The scales will be consistent with the previous reporting of raw scores and the overall Novice, Apprentice, Proficient, and Distinguished (NAPD) performance levels. Please be sure to communicate this new information with your schools.
Alternate Program Calendar
Just like last year, the Alternate Program Calendar will contain the important dates that encompass all aspects of the Alternate Program. The dates for the following items are included in this calendar:
- Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA)
- Transition Attainment Record (TAR)
- Career Work Experience Certification (CWEC)
- Employability Skills Attainment Record (ESAR)
- Infinite Campus Data Pulls
- SRD/CRD
