Elementary Focus: Healthy Integration of the KAS for Social Studies and KAS for Reading and Writing Is Updated!
The Healthy Integration of the KAS for Social Studies and the KAS for Reading and Writing resource has been revised.
This resource was designed to help educators learn how to incorporate healthy integration between the two content areas while maintaining discipline integrity, and provides examples of what healthy integration looks like. The Healthy Integration PowerPoint presentation has been redesigned to support individual participation with the module through the use of Guided Notes. Additionally, the Kindergarten Integration Collection, Grade 3 Integration Collection and Grade 5 Integration Collection found within the module can now be accessed on the resource page.

Reminder: Social Studies Student Assignment Library Is Now Updated, Includes Student Work Samples
Assignments and Teacher Notes found in the Social Studies Student Assignment Library have been updated using teacher feedback from their experience implementing these resources with students. The revised Teacher Notes now contain student work samples, including a strongly aligned example for tasks throughout Teacher Notes, and a strongly, partially and weakly aligned student sample for the summative tasks.
The Social Studies Student Assignment Library contains assignment examples for K-12 that demonstrate strong, partial and weak alignment to the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Social Studies. In addition, this library contains assignments with Teacher Notes, which provide instructional support for implementing the strongly aligned assignments to the KAS for Social Studies.
If you have any questions about this resource, please contact the KDE social studies team.
