Test Security Change for DRC INSIGHT (Reminder)
Beginning June 30, Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) is implementing a security enhancement that may affect some sites and require local IT staff to change the way the DRC INSIGHT Secure Browser software is updated on testing devices. Moving forward, only Admin-level users will be allowed to update the DRC INSIGHT Secure Browser on Windows and macOS testing devices.
Sites that are impacted:
- Sites that manually update the secure browser on each Windows or Mac testing device.
- Sites that have enabled the auto-update feature for the secure browser. This will no longer be an option moving forward.
Sites that are NOT impacted:
- Sites that use iPad or ChromeOS devices for testing.
- Sites that use deployment software to update multiple testing devices at once.
Action needed: Impacted sites should plan to ensure the secure browser is updated as soon as possible after June 30, before student testing is scheduled to begin. Updating the secure browser is required to allow students to test after June 30.
DRC communicated this information via a broadcast email to District Test Coordinators (DTCs) and Technology Coordinators (TCs) on Friday, May 26. Included in the broadcast email was a link to a Tech Bulletin with additional information. Please contact DRC Customer Service with any questions about this change or phone (855) 787-9615.
WIDA Secure Portal
July 1 will start the 2023-2024 school year for completing trainings by school and district staff with administering the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Screener for Kindergarten and WIDA Online Screener on the WIDA website with a WIDA Secure Portal account. For new district and school staff, email the District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) to get on the list for a WIDA Secure Portal account. When district and school staff have completed the WIDA screener training and received the certificate, please email, or print a copy for the DAC to keep on file in the district office.
Sept. 1, district and school staff can begin completing the ACCESS trainings on the WIDA website under the WIDA Secure Portal.
As a reminder, all school and district staff must recertify each year with the WIDA screeners and the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs (Kindergarten ACCESS, ACCESS online, Alternate ACCESS, etc.) before administering any screener or assessment to identified English Learner students. Please refer to the Identification and Placement document on Kentucky’s member on the WIDA website for additional information.
Marking KSA Sessions Complete/Stopped in PAN
As schools and districts complete the 2023 KSA administration, please remember that all sessions within PearsonAccessnext (PAN) must be “Stopped” once testing has been completed. Provided below are two scenarios that districts may need to address that will prevent a session from being stopped:
Students in a “Ready” status: If a student is still in a Ready status, this means the student has not logged in to the test. Any student who was listed in a session, but did not test, will need to be removed from the session. Please know that this will not delete the student from the school roster, it will only remove them from a testing session. Once the student(s) are removed from the session, the session will need to be stopped. Note: Reasons for students not testing will need to be annotated in SDRR.
Students in an “Active”, “Exited”, “Resumed”, or “Resume Upload” status: If a test is showing one of these statuses, it is likely that the student exited the test without submitting final answers. If the student completed the test or exited and will not return to complete it, the test will need to be marked complete. The DAC/BAC must provide a reason when marking a test complete. For detailed directions on marking tests complete, please refer to the After Testing section on page 36 of the Kentucky Summative Assessments (KSA) and Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey Spring 2023.
