Check Out the Professional Learning Bulletin Board
A great place to find professional learning opportunities throughout the summer!
When the school year comes to an end and the summer sunshine is here, Kentucky educators can spend time learning and growing through professional development opportunities listed on the Professional Learning Bulletin Board.
This platform provides Kentucky educators with information regarding professional learning sessions tailored to their interests or to specific areas of growth. Many sessions are asynchronous, meaning they can be accessed anytime at the leisure of the user, while others are face-to-face at designated locations.
Currently, there are multiple offerings through the Kentucky Department of Education along with other professional learning providers, such as the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, Central Kentucky Educational Cooperative, PBLWorks KY, and the National Air and Space Museum.
There is a wide variety of content available that can be filtered to meet your needs. Are you a new teacher looking to break down the standards for your content area? Head to the PLBB! Are you an instructional coach planning to lead teachers in project-based learning? Head to the PLBB! Are you an administrator searching for resources to help refine the multi-tiered system of supports processes in your school? Head to the PLBB! Are you an educator who enjoys learning new things, or refreshing previous knowledge? Head to the PLBB! This platform is updated regularly and many sessions are completely free of charge.
Keep in mind that it is the local school district that determines what is acceptable for credit based on their district policies. Please note, however, per KRS 156.095 (8), “posting information on the bulletin board by the department shall not be viewed as an endorsement of the quality of any specific provider or program.”

Adjusting Curriculum for Acceleration
As schools plan for the next school year, the Adjusting Curriculum for Acceleration document provides step-by-step guidance for grade-level or course content teams to:
- Analyze their existing curriculum to make adjustments to address disrupted or unfinished learning;
- Identify areas of unfinished learning to share in vertical conversations; and
- Draft an adjusted curriculum.
Onboarding New Teachers: Standards Professional Learning and Evidence-Based Instructional Practices
The Standards Implementation Guides provide a template for sequencing essential standards professional learning for new teachers. Guides are available for the Kentucky Academic Standards for Reading and Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science, in addition to a General Standards Implementation Guide.
These guides can help districts and schools plan for differentiated professional learning opportunities around standards implementation that use the most current resources.
Districts and schools also may find the Evidence-Based Instructional Practices (EBIPs) resources especially helpful for use with new teachers. An overview document provides background on evidence-based instructional practices, an overview document, an overview video, facilitation considerations and content area specific resources for six EBIPs: Establishing the Learning Environment, Clarifying and Sharing Clear Learning Goals, Explicit Teaching and Modeling, Discussion, Questioning and Meaningful Feedback.
