Question of the Week
Q: If a student was enrolled in an A1 school for fewer than 100 days and is currently enrolled in an A5 program (virtual or alternative) in the district, will this student track to the district for accountability purposes?
A: Not necessarily. Unless a student was court ordered or state agency placed at the A5 program (in which case there should also be a KECSAC record and those would track to the state), the days at the A5 program track back to the A1 school that the student would have attended had the student not been enrolled at the A5 program. If the combined enrollment at the A1 and the alternative school is 100 days, the accountability is coded to the A1 school where the student would have attended.
This appears to be a common misunderstanding as the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) are having a lot of SDRR tickets submitted.

K Screen 2023-2024 Staff File Submission Deadline June 16
In order to build the Online Management System (OMS) staff file for the 2023-2024 school year, the existing staff file must be edited.
The district assessment coordinator (DAC) must access the spreadsheet from the KDE Secure Web Applications website and choose "Student Data Detail (Excel and PDF). "The staff file is included in the Excel spreadsheet: "SD24_district code_K_Screen_Users_(name of district)_XXXXXXXX.xlsx."
The district’s spreadsheet will be pre-populated with the information originally submitted for the 2022-2023 school year. The spreadsheet provides a list of staff with specific roles that Curriculum Associates will use to build the Brigance OMS each year. Please review and make any corrections or additions as needed. Please upload the updated staff file by June 16 to the 2023-2024 K Screen Staff File Submission Form.
Note: As mentioned in the Implementation Guide, districts do not need to add teachers into the staff file for the 2023-2024 school year. Only district administrators and data entry clerks need to be added to the Staff File.
DACs who are unable to access the KDE secure application site, should check with their WAAPOC and/or the KETS Service Desk. The KETS Service Desk also can be reached at (502) 564-2002 or (866) 538-7435.
