ACT Spring 2023 Junior Administration: PAN/TestNAV Testing Interruptions
During ACT testing yesterday, some students across nine states experienced technical issues. An interruption in the testing experience prevented some students from completing the test. Pearson (who owns PAN and TestNav) reported intermittent issues with the PearsonAccessNEXT (PAN) and the TestNav systems. The issue seemed to be related to tests that were paused and restarted. According to ACT, the issue within the PAN system has been mitigated. ACT is working with its technical partners to provide a root cause analysis and to ensure all systems are performing as expected for testing to resume today, Wednesday, March 8.
ACT has shared the following details late yesterday,
- ACT will allow any student who had an interrupted testing experience to restart the test at the point the test was stopped.
- The testing timer should be at the same place as when the test was interrupted.
- The student will not be able to go back to completed sections.
Students can resume the test at the point where the interruption began yesterday. Students who experienced interruptions can resume and continue testing at any time within test window 1. Once a student has resumed testing, the test will need to be completed during the test session per the TAM unless the student has the authorization to test across multiple days.
Instructions for how to resume testing can be found on page 55 of the Online Testing Administration Manual. The resumption for testing should take place and be completed within the initial test window 1, which concludes on Thursday, March 16. As a reminder, online testing, including online testing for students using authorized accommodations, must be completed on the published Tuesday-Thursday within the initial test window.
If you need assistance with resuming an exam or starting a new session for a student, please contact ACT at 800.553.6244 ext. 2800 or 319-337-1577.
Thank you for your patience and collaboration while we work through these issues.
