Question of the Week
Q: Are released items available for the Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment Program?
A: Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) Released Items Performance Data
As required by KRS 158.6453, assessment reports provided to the school districts and schools shall include an electronic copy of an operational subset of test items from each assessment administered to their students and the results for each of those test items by student and by school.
In compliance with statute, statistical information by student and by school is being provided directly to District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) through a secure file transfer. DACs should communicate with their superintendents and school principals that this information is available. Although not statutorily required, district level data are also included. For access to the AKSA Released Items please refer to KDE’s Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment Combined Resources Webpage.
These AKSA data provide evidence of student learning that helps to inform decision-making related to teaching and learning. Along with other data at the school level, these data can provide insight into student outcomes and provide a clearer picture of school performance.
The AKSA Released Items Data Files document explains the structure and contents of the files and how to access released test items that are connected to the data.
Student Released Items Performance Data are located in the KDE Secure Web Application. The zipped file for each district can be found under the Student Data Detail with the naming convention “SD21_xxx_AKSA Released Items 2021_District Name_20230207.zip”.
The zipped file contains the student listing folder.
These data are appropriate for sharing with school/district leaders and teachers who could use it to make instructional decisions. Individual student level data is located in the Student Listing spreadsheets. As with all student data containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII), confidentiality rules should be implemented. Questions regarding the AKSA Released Items please contact dacinfo@education.ky.gov.
Contact your district WAAPOC, if you are unable to access the secure web application.
