Question of the Week
Q: When will spring 2022 KSA released items be available for reading and mathematics?
A: Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) released items for Reading and Mathematics, grades 3-5, 6-8 and 10 are now available at KY | Released Items (mypearsonsupport.com).
The Kentucky released items are delivered as a package which consists of information posted on the Kentucky Portal and information provided directly to the schools and districts. For each grade and content, a sample set of items are released along with the statistics for each item. On all the associated documentation for each item there will be a Unique Identification Number (UIN). This number can be used to link the information from all resources together.

KDE Data Analysis Portal Includes New Assessment Dashboards
New Tableau dashboards are available for evaluating statewide assessment detail in aggregate and by student. Filters and parameters allow users to view data by test year, subject, school level, test grade, current grade, service type, proficiency level and student subgroups. The Infinite Campus Data Analysis Portal User Guide includes details of these new assessments and previously released dashboards.
New assessment dashboards include:
- State Assessment Summary (KSA, Alt-KSA K-Prep, and Alt-K-Prep,) provides aggregated view for analysis by organization level, subject and grade level. The detail provides a view of the number and percentage of students distinguished, proficient, apprentice, novice, and students without scores by test.
- The KSA and Alt-KSA data will contain data from the 2021-2022 school year. The K-Prep and Alt K-Prep will contain data from the 2019-2020 school year and the 2020-2021 school year
- State Assessment Summary (KSA and Alt-KSA K-Prep, Alt-K-Prep,) provides student detail including test scores with a vertical line indicating proficiency mark. Level of proficiency (Distinguished, Proficient, Apprentice, Novice, No Score) is represented by the color of the bar.
- ACT College Readiness Analysis Composite (ACT State Administered and National) analyzes scores by subject level, grade tested, and school. Highest score is reflected. Data can be filtered to see state administered results only.
- ACT College Readiness by Student (ACT State Administered and National) provides details by student, records are displayed showing student test scores along with a vertical line indicating college readiness. Level of proficiency (college ready, not college ready, no score) is represented by the color of the bar.
Filters can help users view the data in the way that it is most helpful. Users are encouraged to try the filters to see different views. An option to revert or undo is easily accessible below the report title, at the top left. Reports can be downloaded as an image, data, or PDF. Student group details can be downloaded by selecting the bar or area of interest.
User access to this tool is limited, KDE recommends limiting access to leadership level staff due to the sensitivity of data and limited licensing available. Detail on granting access to users is available in the Infinite Campus Data Analysis Portal User Guide. If you do not already have access to the data analytics tool in Infinite Campus, contact your Infinite Campus system administrator to have access set up. Set up is not immediate, it is an overnight process.
The KDE Data Visualization webpage contains helpful information about the tool and other dashboards available. Special thanks to the statewide school and district advisory board who provided suggestions and helped with testing these new tools. Feedback and suggestions are welcome, email KDE data services to provide input for further refinements and possible enhancements.
ACT Spring 2023 Junior Administration - Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) System Issues
ACT acknowledges the recent technical issues with the TAA system. ACT is continuing to work to identify the cause of the issue and to restore the system. As a result, ACT, Inc. is extending the deadline to submit requests for Spring 2023 State testing. The new deadline to submit requests is January 20, 2022.
If a school experiences technical issues such as being timed out, progress lost, or an inordinate amount of load time when interacting with the TAA system, ACT recommends that you clear your internet cache and attempt to submit again. If the problem persists, OAA recommends that the school immediately report the issue by contacting ACT Accommodations by phone at 800-553-6244, ext. 1788, or by email at ACTStateAccoms@act.org. School staff should document the time and date of the contact with ACT Accommodations, along with the student’s SSID.
If a school or district still needs to begin the work to submit accommodation requests, please start as soon as possible to allow an ample amount of time to complete this task in TAA. Please Note: ACT will not authorize accommodations or EL supports for the State administration if the request is submitted after the new deadline unless the request meets the requirements for Qualified Exceptions to the Deadline.
Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) Final Score Entry and Makeups
The AKSA window to enter Attainment Tasks (AT) scores will close on Friday, Dec. 23. DACs may collect school level materials and destroy; however, original DAC binders, score sheets, etc. must be retained through the end of the school year.
DACs will use the Makeup Request Google form to complete requests for Window 1. Please have requests completed by Dec. 23, 2022. Upon approval, the SRD will be opened for student score entry for the students requested. If an exceptional circumstance occurs after Dec. 23, please contact KDE to request approval. Please allow 1-2 business days for a request to be approved/opened. For questions, please contact Devon Avery or dacinfo@education.ky.gov.
Happy Holidays
There will be no Monday DAC Email on Dec. 26. Should there be the need for any timely messages, a Special DAC Email will be sent. Have a safe and healthy holiday season!
