Including Diverse Groups of the KAS for Social Studies module: Now available! 

The Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Social Studies requires including the perspectives of diverse groups in Kentucky classrooms and local curriculum. This task is critically important not only for students to master the KAS for Social Studies, but also to promote an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment. However, including diverse groups effectively can be a challenging task. 

This module seeks to support educators in including diverse groups of the KAS for Social Studies in the local curriculum. An introduction is provided that explains the meaning of “including diverse groups" according to the KAS for Social Studies, how the Writers’ Vision supports including diverse groups and what it means to have curriculum that encourages intercultural understanding. 

Newly Released: KyMTSS Self-Assessment Tool 

The Kentucky Multi-Tiered System of Supports (KyMTSS) Self-Assessment Tool is designed to support district and school leaders and teams responsible for MTSS implementation.

The tool is aligned with Kentucky’s six essential elements and uses them to drive systematic change. Additionally, the tool is intended to assist with resource identification and action planning for MTSS implementation.

The KyMTSS Self-Assessment is organized into six sections and embeds a mini-action planning section with each of the six essential elements. The tool primarily limits a key feature to one essential element to keep the document manageable and user friendly. In practice, in an effective MTSS framework, all features may be applied to multiple essential elements.
