Question of the Week
Q: Does the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) have a new resource to assist with data analysis toward school improvement efforts?
A: The 2022 Accountability Data Analysis2022 Accountability Data Analysis guidance document contains a general protocol for school accountability data analysis. The document contains guidance to utilize the detailed school and individual student level information provided in the accountability data released in the fall. In response to requests from District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) and other educators, the OAA has developed an Accountability Data Analysis guidance document.
This resource provides steps for analyzing the data, suggested discussion questions related to each indicator and other data components, ideas for reviewing student demographic group data, recommendations for connecting accountability data to local data, links to assessment and accountability performance level descriptors and additional tools.
Spring 2022 KSA Released Items Now Available
Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) released items for Editing and Mechanics, grades 5, 8 and 11, are now available at KY | Released Items (mypearsonsupport.com). In addition, the Social Studies items, grades 5, 8 and 11, have been updated and an informational document explaining the resources is now available.
The Kentucky released items are delivered as a package which consists of information posted on the Kentucky Portal and information provided directly to the schools and districts. For each grade and content, a sample set of items are released along with the statistics for each item. On all the associated documentation for each item there will be a Unique Identification Number (UIN). This number can be used to link the information from all resources together.
Additional assessment items for all content areas including detailed scoring results will be released on the KY Portal in the upcoming weeks. DACs will be informed as items are released in Monday DAC emails.
Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) Student Registration Database (SRD) Reminder
District Assessment Coordinators (DACs), DAC appointees, and teachers who have been activated by their DAC representative should have access to the SRD for score entry. If a staff member has been denied access to the SRD, they should contact their DAC or DAC appointee to request activation into the system. Activation to enter scores must be completed at the district level. Specific instructions to activate staff members can be found on page 4 of the SRD User Manual. For specific technical questions about the SRD, please contact Darrell Mattingly.
ACT Spring 2023 Junior Administration Online Testing Site Readiness Activities
The window for testing staff to begin conducting online site readiness activities opened today, Monday, Dec. 5. Please navigate to step 2 of the ACT-hosted website to obtain additional information and resources in verifying site readiness. While the site readiness activities can be conducted leading up to the test administration windows, ACT encourages staff to complete the work now to ensure the network and devices can support online testing. After the devices have been configured, it is essential to lock down all devices to prevent automatic computer updates or application auto-launching, which may negatively impact online testing. Please complete the task of freezing the devices used for testing by Wednesday, Jan. 25. ACT has sent an email with additional information about completing the site readiness activities to school and district testing staff today. Testing staff is encouraged to share this information with school technology coordinators. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Shara Savage.
