Navigating Elementary Science Teaching and Learning: A Cohort for Beginning K-5th Grade Science Educators
The Navigating Elementary Science Teaching and Learning cohort seeks to provide content-focused, sustainable support for beginning K-5th grade science educators by:
-
Establishing a stronger foundation in the Kentucky Academic Standards for Science;
-
Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement to create more vibrant experiences for students every student;
-
Forming a community of new science educators to share best practices and experiences across school districts; and
-
Attending to the personal and professional well-being of beginning teachers.
This workshop offers an opportunity for beginning science educators (0-2 years of experience) to engage with one another as learners and practitioners, considering how to cultivate vibrant student learning experiences that incorporate evidence-based instructional practices while valuing the unique needs of beginning science educators.
The cohort will meet six times throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Each session will consist of a 1-hour synchronous virtual session paired with asynchronous opportunities between each session.
