Apply by June 17: Grounding in Standards, Planting SEAD in Mathematics - A Two-Day Workshop for Teachers
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is excited to partner with Regional Educational Laboratories (REL) to offer a FREE professional learning opportunity focused on:
- Grounding instruction in the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Mathematics, thus reaffirming a commitment to equitable learning opportunities for all students in Kentucky; and
- Expanding educator familiarity with strategies to interweave the social, emotional and academic development (SEAD) within mathematics instruction.
This workshop is an opportunity for educators to engage with one another as learners and practitioners, considering how to cultivate vibrant student learning experiences that incorporate evidence-based instructional practices while valuing educator expertise and autonomy. The goals of the two-day workshop are to:
- Facilitate deeper learning around high-quality instruction aligned to the KAS for Mathematics.
- Build educator understanding of the importance and role of SEAD in effective and equity-focused mathematics instruction.
- Expand awareness of resources to support SEAD integration while strengthening capacity for planning instruction that aligns with the content and practices within the KAS for Mathematics.
The workshop will feature built-in time for teachers to collaboratively design a learning experience, gain valuable feedback through the peer-review process and reflect upon the impact workshop attendance will have on instructional practice moving forward.
The workshop will take place 9 a.m.-4 p.m. ET on July 12-13 at the Hampton Inn, 1310 US-127, Frankfort.
There are a limited number of spots available for the two-day workshop. Educators interested in this opportunity should complete the Google Form to apply online no later than Friday, June 17. Selected participants will be notified no later than July 1.
