Adjusting Curriculum for Acceleration
As schools plan for the next school year, the Adjusting Curriculum for Acceleration document provides step-by-step guidance for grade-level or course content teams to:
- Analyze their existing curriculum to make adjustments to address disrupted or unfinished learning;
- Identify areas of unfinished learning to share in vertical conversations; and
- Draft an adjusted curriculum.
Onboarding New Teachers: Standards Professional Learning
The Standards Implementation Guides provide a template for sequencing essential standards professional learning for new teachers. Guides are available for the Kentucky Academic Standards for Reading and Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science, in addition to a General Standards Implementation Guide.
These guides can help districts and schools plan for differentiated professional learning opportunities around standards implementation that use the most current resources.
Summer Science Opportunity: Apply to Participate in a 3D Task Modification Project
The Kentucky Department of Education invites science teachers to apply for participation in a 3D Task Modification Project.
Selected teachers will co-develop and pilot a process for modifying existing science tasks using analysis from a screening tool. Teachers will then modify science tasks they use in the classroom based upon this process and help provide guidance for all teachers in this modification process. Selected teachers will be partnered by grade.
- Who: Teachers of science in grades 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8, High School - Life Science, High School-Physical Science
- What: 3D Task Modification Project
- When: July 11-13, with weekly follow-ups through Sept. 30
- Where: Frankfort, with virtual follow-ups
All lodging, travel and meal costs for the in-person component will be provided. Selected teachers will receive a stipend of $450 at the conclusion of the project when all deliverables are received.
