Question of the Week
Q: How should tickets for read aloud students be handled for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA)?
A: Caution should be used when distributing tickets to accommodated students taking the KSA in Read Aloud Sessions. District Assessment Coordinators and Building Assessment Coordinators may set up a Read Aloud Session for small groups of students who need a human reader. This will automatically assign students to the same form and create a proctor testing ticket for the person administering the accommodation. In the Read Aloud Sessions, proctors will have their own testing ticket. Having their own testing ticket allows the proctor to read from their own computer but does not record any submitted answers.
The proctor ticket can be differentiated from the student ticket. It says, “Proctor Testing Ticket” at the top and ‘proctor’ is included as part of the username.
If the proctor accidentally gives the proctor testing ticket to the student, the student will be able to take the entire assessment and it will appear to submit answers. The student will not see any difference in the test. In PAN, it will reflect that the student did not take the test and is still in Ready status. The proctor should be careful not to give the student the wrong testing ticket.
If the student takes the assessment under the proctor testing ticket, the DAC should call Devon Avery for directions.
Reminder: TAR & AKSA Window Closure & Score Entry Approaching
OAA would like to send out a friendly reminder that the Transition Attainment Record (TAR) and Alternate Kentucky Summative Assessment (AKSA) window closure is approaching fast. All TAR and AKSA assessments should be completed by May 27, 2022. Additionally, all scores need to be submitted into the Student Registration Database (SRD) no later than June 3, 2022. This is a firm deadline.
ACT STATE TESTING OFFICE HOUR MAY 12 (Repeat)
OAA and ACT will be hosting an office hour session this Thursday, May 12, at 1 p.m. ET, focusing on Data and Reporting. Although the discussion will be focused on data and reporting, all questions related to the ACT state administration are welcome. The session will be hosted via a Microsoft Teams meeting. While the content will be focused on this policy, KDE and ACT encourage testing staff to attend and ask any questions they may have at this time. Please provide testing staff with this May 12 Teams Meeting Link for this week's session.
