Question of the Week
Q: How are district administrators and data entry clerks added to the K Screen Online Management System?
A: In order to build the Online Management System (OMS) staff file for the 2022-2023 school year, the existing staff file must be edited. The Google Staff File Submission Form can be found on the Common Kindergarten Entry Screener webpage as well as through the link provided below.
To complete the staff file spreadsheet, please follow these directions:
- The District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) must access the staff file spreadsheet by clicking on the link below
- Complete the first four sections of the Google Staff File Submission Form: district email, DAC first name, DAC last name and the school district.
- Follow the instructions below to access the KDE Secure Web Application and complete the staff file spreadsheet on the Google Staff File Submission Form.
- Click the link provided to be directed to the KDE Secure Web Applications
- Choose: "Student Data Detail (Excel and PDF)."
- The staff file is included in the Excel spreadsheet: "SD_district code_K_Screen_Users_ (name of district) _XXXXXXXX.xlsx ."
- Once you have updated the staff file spreadsheet with district administrators and data entry clerks, save it then upload it into the Google Staff File Submission Form.
- This needs to be completed by the close of business on June 15.
The district’s staff file spreadsheet will be pre-populated with the information originally submitted for the 2021-2022 school year. The staff file spreadsheet provides a list of staff with specific roles that Curriculum Associates will use to build the Brigance OMS each year. Please review and make any corrections or additions as needed.
Note: As mentioned in the "K Screen Refresh Webcast Training," districts do not need to add teachers into the staff file for the 2022-2023 school year. Only district administrators and data entry clerks need to be added to the Staff File.
DACs who are unable to access the KDE Secure Web Application should check with their WAAPOC and/or the KETS Service Desk. The KETS Service Desk can be reached at (502) 564-2002 or (866) 538-7435.
Please contact Lisa Jett if you have any questions or need assistance with completing this process.

While the content will be focused on this policy, KDE and ACT encourage testing staff to attend and ask any questions they may have at this time. Please provide testing staff with this May 12 Teams Meeting Link for this week's session.

WIDA Advancing ALTELLA BSC Review
The Advancing ALTELLA team is thrilled to tell educators that WIDA will be conducting Bias, Sensitivity and Content (BSC) reviews in August 2022! Grades K-5 will be held Aug. 3-5. Grades 6-12 will be held Aug. 22-24.
In order to develop these high-quality assessments, WIDA need K-12 educators who are familiar with multilingual learners with significant cognitive disabilities to review new Alternate ACCESS for ELLs items before the items are field tested with students.
- Bias and Sensitivity reviewers ensure test items are free of material that might favor any subgroup of students over another on the basis of gender, race or ethnicity, disability, home language, religion, culture, region, or socio-economic status.
- Content reviewers ensure test items are grade-level appropriate and factual.
Let WIDA know if educators are interested in participating in the Advancing ALTELLA BSC review by completing the interest survey. In the survey, educators will also find more information on the cognitive labs. Submit a response by May 27 at 11:59 p.m. Central Daylight Time. The Advancing ALTELLA team will follow up with educators accordingly.
