Question of the Week
Q: When will the KSA and QSCS Survey Scripts be available?
A: The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) and Pearson have released 2022 Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) and Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey Scripts for this spring’s summative assessment. Grade-specific scripts for grades 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 11 are currently available on the KY Portal under Resources: Test Administration Scripts. Grade scripts for grades 4 and 7 will be posted in the portal as they become available. DACs and BACs should check back into the portal for updates.
Read Aloud Sessions in Pearson Access Next (PAN)
Read Aloud Sessions in PAN are currently not available for the Quality of School Climate and Safety (QSCS) Survey. This is for surveys at Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-12. Pearson is working to update the system to make this feature available as soon as possible. Once this update is complete a notification will be provided.
Please note that the option to create a Read Aloud Session for the content tests is working. Only the read aloud for creating a session that allows the reader to have access to the survey that is being updated.
For more information about the Read Aloud Sessions visit the Creating Test Sessions guide on the KY Portal. There are step-by-step directions provided on slides 13-20 for creating these sessions.
ACT Test Window 2 - Reminders and Deadlines
As a reminder now that the second online and accommodations windows are complete, please remember the upcoming prescheduled material pickups and corresponding deadline dates by which materials must be delivered back to ACT. ACT has arranged a prescheduled material pickup on Monday, April 4. To ensure no reporting delays, the appropriate materials must be delivered to ACT no later than Friday, April 8. Testing staff should ensure the appropriate accommodations and/or online materials are prepared for return shipment to ACT by following the instructions outlined within Step 6 of the ACT hosted website. For questions or concerns, please contact Shara Savage.
ACT State Testing Data and Report Availability
With the Spring 2022 State ACT Administration now concluded, ACT and KDE want to ensure school and district testing staff have access to data and reports from this spring administration. As is detailed in the Score Report Schedule, specific deliverables will be available approximately 3-8 weeks after online exams are submitted for scoring or the receipt of paper answer documents for scoring. ACT will email school and district testing staff when final student-level data files, aggregate reports, and any non-college reportable score notification letters are available in PearsonAccessNext (PAN). The final data and reports will be available no later than June 24, 2022. Additionally, school and district staff who have access to ACT’s online reporting system, which is housed on the ACT Success Site, can obtain data as scores are released into that system. Materials are processed as they are received. Scores are not held until the entire school is processed. All students from a single school or district may not receive their scores simultaneously. If you have questions or need additional information about accessing data within the online reporting system, please complete this webform.
ACCESS for ELLs Data Validation in WIDA AMS
The ACCESS for ELLs (ACCESS/Alternate ACCESS) Data Validation window for English Learners (ELs) is April 6-20. Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) has communicated instructions for logging into the WIDA Assessment Management System (AMS) and completing this process to District Assessment Coordinators (DACs). This is the last opportunity with DRC to correct any student demographics prior to districts receiving the ACCESS for ELLs reports online in WIDA AMS on May 6 and printed reports starting on May 23. Resource on ACCESS for ELLs Data Validation (March 8) recording can be found on the webinars page under the WIDA Secure Portal.
Districts will need to make sure the following tasks have been completed so that the ACCESS for ELLs reports will be accurate:
- Verify that all student demographics are correct
- Fix all duplicate student records. To do this the following fields must be the same and no blanks for both records:
- Last Name
- Birthdate
- SSID
- Grade
- District
- School
- Student records needing invalidated (do not score code), contact Chris Williams
- Save all changes
For assistance or any questions with the ACCESS for ELLs Data Validation process, please contact Chris Williams.

Reminder: 2022 CTE EOP Assessment Testing
Effective April 4, 2022, all remaining schools in testing Windows 4 and 5 may proceed with CTE EOP testing as planned.
Due to the urgency in completing internal assessment reviews and releasing EOP test results as scheduled, CTE EOP Assessment testing is requested to be completed by April 15, 2022.
OCTE will continue to provide updates and work to address any further issues as they arise.
Staggered Start If testing in larger groups (30 – 50+), please use a staggered start approach by allowing a group of 10 students to log in and confirm they have successfully logged in before moving on to the next group of 10 and so on.
Student Account Requiring Time to Finish Testing Due to E-SESS System Outage While Testing If a student was unable to finish testing due to previous technical issues (03/15, 03/21, 03/22) and requires additional time to finish testing, please confirm receipt of time addition update from technical support prior to attempting to proceed with testing.
Request Technical Assistance If a student is unable to log in to their assessment (e.g., participant locked, additional time to finish testing is not available and should be), contact technical support for immediate assistance.
