Question of the Week
Q: What is the current status of TestNav supporting Chromebooks switching to the Operating System (OS) 99?
A: Good news! Pearson has completed testing of Chrome OS 99 to ensure functionality and security with TestNav. Chrome OS 99 is now approved and fully supported by Pearson.
The Office of Education Technology advises, please make sure to disable automatic updates to ensure you do not exceed the supported version 99. Districts may resume automatic updates after the testing window has been completed.
For additional support as you prepare for the upcoming test administration, Pearson Kentucky Customer Service can be reached at (888) 437-1430, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST. There is also technology support located on the KY Portal; this link will lead you to the Technology Setup for PearsonAccessnext. There are technology guidelines, user guides, documents concerning Proctor Caching and TestNav/Technology Guidance documents. At the bottom of the page there is a link to schedule a one-on-one virtual meeting with a technology field engineer that will walk you through specific setup instructions or questions you may encounter.
ACT State Testing Window 2 – Updates and Reminders
With the second test date and corresponding online and accommodations windows approaching, KDE and ACT want to remind testing staff of crucial information and resources. School and district testing staff will receive an email from ACT on March 22 with information and resources to help conclude testing for Test Window 2. As a reminder, if your school is anticipating testing during Test Window 3, contact Shara Savage.
ACT has prescheduled material pickups for the first day after the standard time paper test date and the Monday after the last day of the accommodations window (for accommodations and online materials). Please review your Schedule of Events to ensure materials are prepared for return to ACT on time.
If the school is testing online and you don’t already have the supplies needed to return the online materials, be sure to place an order for an Online Testing Materials Return Kit in PearsonAccessNext. This kit contains one processing envelope, one polymailer, and a return shipping label (affixed to the polymailer) and can be ordered at any time.
If there are any technical issues or administration questions on the test day, pause testing and contact ACT’s customer care team immediately. That team can be reached by dialing 319-337-1577 (the Kentucky priority number) or 800-553-6244 X 2800. This team is best equipped to resolve any issues during testing.
EOC Window 2 Score Reports Posted
District summary data and individual student score reports for Early Graduate EOCs received for Test Window 2 are now available in the Secure Web Application in the Student Data Detail. If districts are unable to access the scores, please contact the KETS help desk, as this has been a state-wide issue.
The district summary data file is named “SD22_xxx_DistrictNameDistrict_TW2”.
The individual student score report data file is named “SD22_xxx_DistrictNameISR_TW2”.
Please check students’ reports for correct name spelling, SSIDs, and other demographic information. The demographic information is populated in the reports precisely as students entered the data into the electronic answer documents. Therefore, it is essential to review district summary data and individual student score reports for correctness. Please complete this review by noon on Friday, March 25.
Students who have an approved Early Graduation Intent Form and are flagged in Infinite Campus (IC) may appeal to retake the EOC exam once in some circumstances. Districts may determine that an extraordinary circumstance prohibited an otherwise exceptional student from obtaining benchmarks. Such a student may appeal to retake the EOC exam on the grounds of the extenuating circumstances following the procedure below. The DAC should keep the documentation for the retake on file. OAA may ask to review it.
Please see Retake Policy below from the Early Graduation EOC Exam Guidance Document:
As part of the protocol for this program, Early Graduate Pathway students who do not meet a benchmark due to an extenuating circumstance have been able to appeal to their superintendent to retake an exam. The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) will continue to provide this option under restricted circumstances.
As a reminder, the option to appeal to retake an EOC exam is not simply to keep attempting to receive a higher score to meet a benchmark in order to fulfill Early Graduation Pathway requirements. This is a strong indicator that the student is not ready for college-level work if the student is unable to reach proficiency in either courses or exams.
The intent of the appeal opportunity is to provide a recourse for those otherwise exceptional students who experienced an extenuating circumstance during testing that could have contributed to their less than typical performance. Examples could include death in the family, a parent in a car accident, medical trauma, etc. Contact Shara Savage by email or phone at 502-564-4394 with any corrections or questions.
