It’s finally that time of year for us to slow down and give thanks for the blessings around us. May this season of thanksgiving be a time for you to reflect on joy, peace, health, family and rest.
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
– William Arthur Ward
GMAP Application Revisions
With the first quarter of the school year under way, you may find that it has been necessary to make some changes in your spending plan that were not in the approved application. Budget entries in MUNIS should mirror the approved GMAP budget.
KDE advises districts to work collaboratively with their finance officers to develop an appropriate budget that aligns with GMAP and to maintain alignment throughout the process of the grant cycle.
Title I, Part A application revisions may be made at any point during the year through the GMAP system. An application revision would be required when:
- Funds are reallocated;
- A district moves Title I, Part A funds, which causes a change in the amount of a district set-aside;
- A district moves Title I, Part A funds, which causes a change in the amount of a school allocation;
- A district makes significant changes in the types of Title I, Part A activities it will carry out. For example, if a district originally was approved to carry out professional learning activities, but desires to change that to parent and family engagement activities; or
- There is misalignment between GMAP and MUNIS.
It is highly recommended that districts develop a process to regularly align GMAP and MUNIS.
National ESEA Conference Scheduled for Feb. 16-19
The National ESEA Conference is aimed at coordination among federal education programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and other federal programs. The conference is being held Feb. 16-19 in New Orleans and features more than 130 sessions and five keynotes.
Formerly called the National Title I Conference, the event remains committed to sharing resources pertinent to Title I, as well as a host of other federally funded education programs. Participants include state agency officials, school district administrators, school building leaders and teachers. Registration for the 2022 National ESEA Conference, hosted by the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA), is open now.
Attendees will receive current information through sessions from representatives from the U.S. Department of Education, national experts and practitioners, and opportunities to network with colleagues from across the country. All of the sessions will be focused on ESEA and related federal programs.
This year’s conference will be a hybrid event and participants may join virtually or in person in New Orleans. Visit NAESPA’s conference webpage to view the conference schedule and register to attend.
