Newly Released Resource
The KyMTSS Implementation Guide is now available in the Resource Library on the kymtss.org website.
The purpose of the KyMTSS Implementation Guide is to support districts and schools in building, implementing and sustaining an integrated three-tiered model of prevention to meet students’ academic, behavioral and social-emotional needs.
The first section of the guide introduces the concept of MTSS as an organizational framework that promotes integration of the various multi-tiered systems (e.g., RTI, PBIS) and district and school initiatives that support academic proficiency, positive behavior and social-emotional wellness. It also provides an overview of the six essential elements and key features of the infrastructure that need to be in place for an effective implementation of an integrated MTSS.
Subsequent sections are organized around the six essential elements of KyMTSS and provide a more in-depth look at the systems, data and practices that are needed for effective implementation of an integrated framework.
The KyMTSS Implementation Guide is designed to be used as a reference to support district and school teams as they work to address one or more of these key areas. The guidance and examples included in the document align to the current research and best practices in MTSS adopted from national and state models that have been shown to be effective.
