Council Verification Data
Pursuant to KRS 160.345(6), the principal, through the superintendent, is required to forward to the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) the names and training verification of all SBDM council members by Nov. 1.
This information is entered into the SBDM verification database that is housed in the KDE Web Applications. If you need access to it, please email Ashlie Cox. In addition, Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) schools must have the names of their Advisory Leadership Team (ALT) members entered, also.
Monthly Agenda Topics
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) recently updated the SBDM Monthly Agenda Topics guidance document. The topics and reminders listed within the resource are suggestions for consideration for principals when planning agendas for monthly SBDM meetings. November topics include:
- Completing diagnostics that are due November 1.
- Reviewing and revising policies (these could include assignment of instructional and non-instructional staff time, student assignment and school schedule).
- Council training verification due by November 1.
Phase Three: Comprehensive Improvement Planning and 2021-22 Continuous Improvement Options
During phase three of the comprehensive improvement planning process, schools are required to complete and submit the following diagnostics in the Cognia Continuous Improvement Platform (CIP):
- Professional Development Plan for Schools
- Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
- Executive Summary for Schools
Schools may have noticed that the Closing the Achievement Gap diagnostic is no longer a stand-alone diagnostic in the improvement planning timeline. To eliminate redundancy, this diagnostic has been consolidated into the school’s improvement planning template.
Phase Three diagnostics encourage thoughtful reflection focused on priority needs, funding, and closing achievement gaps between identified subgroups of students. Schools must address critical needs specified in the Needs Assessment and align strategies and activities to those needs. The deadline for submitting the diagnostics is Jan. 1.
Mark Your Calendars!
The SBDM office is planning and preparing for next year’s SBDM trainings, including the endorsement training for coordinators. Please look at the training options and dates and mark them on your calendar. Specifics, including registration links regarding these trainings, will be forthcoming. If you have specific topics that you would like to have addressed during the annual endorsement training, please email those ideas to Ashlie Cox.
