Quality Control (QC) Review Open
Data for Quality Control (QC) Review is now available. The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) has provided to school and districts aggregated data and student listings on the KDE Applications Login. The QC data for review reflects the changes made in the Student Data Review and Rosters (SDRR) application and Infinite Campus (IC) data for ACCESS, Alternate ACCESS, K-PREP, Alternate K-PREP, and Cohort Graduation Rate during the Data Review period. Note: ACT, K Screen and Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey data are included in the spreadsheets, but not included in the QC Day review. The QC review process affords schools and districts the opportunity to conduct a final review of the data to ensure data quality, identify statewide systemic data issues that potentially impact multiple schools and districts and ensure accurate data before public reporting. To assist with the QC Review process, District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) will want to complete the following:
-
DACs will download the zipped files with student information in the KDE Applications Login . The zipped files for each district can be found under the Student Data Detail example of the file name "SD21_District Number_QC_Day_2021_DistrictName_20210908.zip”. The zipped files contain seven folders. The folders contain spreadsheets for each school and district on the following:
EL (English Learners)
Graduation Rate
K Screen
K-PREP NAPD - (Novice, Apprentice, Proficient and Distinguished) for Reading (grade 3-8, 10), Mathematics (grade 3-8, 10), Science (4, 7, 11), and Writing (5, 8, 11)
School Climate and Safety
Student Data - Student listings of Graduates (4-year and 5-year cohort) and Tested Students (Content Assessment and ACCESS)
The ACT
-
Follow the steps in the QC Day Checklist to review the data.
-
Identify any systemic issues with the data; no individual student changes can be made. (Some examples of possible systemic issues are: all the free/reduced price lunch students, male students, grade 4 students are missing or no students with disabilities are showing up in the data). If districts find systemic issues with the data, a discrepancy form should be completed and submitted electronically. If no systemic issues are found, there is no need to fill out the discrepancy form. The issues will be researched; an email will be sent to the district with the findings.
- Complete the QC checklist online. Submission of the QC day checklist indicated to KDE that the DAC’s review of the data is finished.
-
Nondisclosure Preliminary Data QC Form – District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) must email their completed forms to KDE DAC Information prior to reviewing data. OAA expects schools and districts not to share the preliminary data beyond the leadership level during the QC process. Anyone viewing the data must complete the Nondisclosure Preliminary QC Data Form. DACs should collect and keep copies on file with name(s) of others with whom the DACs share the preliminary data.
-
In order to have prepared for QC Day, DACs and/or designees should have viewed the Quality Control Day Training and reference the Quality Control Day PowerPoint.. Note: the recorded training was provided in lieu of a live broadcast.
-
KDE Applications Login. It will also be helpful to have the student listing and ticket listing that were downloaded at the end of the August Data Review period from SDRR. If those were not downloaded at the end of data review, they can still be accessed from the Download page in the closed section of SDRR.
For information and assistance, DACs will email the assigned OAA QC Day contact. To see the OAA contacts for QC Day, please refer to slide 29 of the QC Day PowerPoint under resources.
The Data Review period allowed schools and districts a final opportunity to change student level data prior to the public data release.
Possible systemic data quality issues should be recorded on the data discrepancy report.
If you are unable to access the KDE Applications Login site, check with your Web Apps Admin Point of Contact (WAAPOC) who may reach out to the KDE Help Desk for assistance. The KDE Help Desk can be reached at (502) 564-2002.
