Q: Should the district or school request the Roster Clean-up non-participation in the Student Data Review and Rosters (SDRR) application if a student was 100% virtual and did not attempt the test?
A: No. Virtual students who did not attempt the test are left on the roster. The Roster Clean-up addresses situations where the student appears on the student listing in error (which typically occurs when the student was not deleted from spring rosters). Students who did not attempt the test or do not have an approved non-participation in SDRR will be reflected in a lower participation rate in the summary spreadsheet regardless of the instruction type (e.g. in-person, hybrid or virtual).
In the past to meet federal participation rates, the lowest score was applied to school reports for students who did not test. In a Letter to Chief State School Officers regarding the expectation for states to administer tests, the U.S. Department of Education (USED) provided guidance on assessment, accountability and reporting. With the federal waiver from the 95% participation rates and school accountability, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) did not apply the lowest scores for students who did not test. Therefore, aggregate performance for schools, districts and the state is based on scores of only students who attempted to test and did not have an approved non-participation.
School/district performance is based on the students who tested or attempted to test at their location (not 100-day students).
Instruction type clarification:
For K-PREP, the instruction type (in-person, hybrid or virtual) is based on the 14-day test window for the district. For example, a district with a test window from 5/10 to 5/27 is based on identification in IC across the full window from 5/10 to 5/27. For ACCESS, the instruction type (in-person, hybrid or virtual) is based on the full ACCESS testing window from 3/1 to 5/7.

Kindergarten Readiness Scores in Infinite Campus
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) strives to publish student results data in Infinite Campus (IC) as they become available. In this spirit, the 2021 Kindergarten Readiness scores have been imported into the State Edition of IC. KDE will publish these scores to all districts beginning Tuesday, Aug. 10.
DAC Monthly Webcast
The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA), Division of Assessment and Accountability Support (DAAS) will host its live monthly DAC Webcast virtually Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. – 12 noon ET.
The meeting will be hosted by Jennifer Stafford, Director, in the Division of Assessment and Accountability Support. She will be joined by others to discuss current assessment and accountability topics. Topics and direct links to materials will be forthcoming in a Special DAC Email prior to the webcast.

DAC Spotlight
|
“With an enrollment nearing 3,000 students, the Corbin Independent School District (CISD) serves students P-12 in southeastern Kentucky. CISD is comprised of one preschool, one primary, one elementary, one middle, one high school, and one educational center, along with our School of Innovation, which services students looking for a non-traditional route to education. Our nearly 500 employees each do their part to promulgate student learning and achievement in Corbin.
“CISD has a rich tradition of excellence and fortuities for our students. Some of the opportunities we are able to offer in our district include flexible scheduling of afterschool, evening and independent study courses, industry certifications, apprenticeships, internships, AP courses, and dual credit courses. Additionally, we offer 13 CCR pathways which afford our students the ability to increase their proficiency in areas that will make them marketable in the workforce or college endeavors. We have begun construction of a career center on our high school campus. This center will allow students the ability to take courses in the construction trades with the combination of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electricity. Through KCTCS, students will also have the opportunity to receive credit, for the above-mentioned courses, toward a construction management degree. Other exciting work happening in our district includes a completely redesigned multi-tiered system of support, vertical alignment of reading and mathematics curricula, and instructional coaching.
“We are looking forward to a return to in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year. Using lessons learned from the past year, we feel a sense of urgency and a repurposing of our district motto, “Striving to be OUR best!”
