Additional State Spring 2021 ACT Emergency Testing Window
The ACT is used for many purposes, including college admissions and scholarship opportunities. To ensure students have an opportunity to take the state administration of the ACT this spring and to offer as much flexibility as possible due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has partnered with ACT to provide an additional standard time test date and corresponding accommodations window for the state-funded ACT exam during the Spring 2021 administration cycle.
School and district staff may choose to use the additional date as another chance for their students to take a state administered ACT exam. There is no requirement that the additional emergency date must be used.
The additional State Spring 2021 ACT Emergency Testing Window 2 includes:
-
Standard (Paper): May 5 (Wednesday)
-
Accommodations (Paper): May 5-7, and 10-11
The May date is paper only.
The ordering window for the May testing date is April 20-22. The testing materials will arrive the week of April 26. After testing has concluded, the materials pickup date is scheduled for standard: May 6 (school). The accommodations materials are scheduled to be picked up on May 12 (school). All answer documents must be received by May 12 for Standard Time Testing and May 18 for Accommodations.
If school(s) need to utilize the May test date options, please contact Shara Savage for KDE approval.
ACT Roster Non-participation Requests
When creating a request for a medical non-participation ticket in the Student Data Review and Roster (SDRR) application for ACT, please include the dates for the district's initial testing and make-up dates in the “additional relevant information about the student from the educational/school perspective” field, which is found in the ticket comments.
When submitting a non-participation request for either of the following reasons, please be prepared to supply these dates when more information is requested from the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA).
-
Student was expelled without services
-
Student was withdrawn after the testing window began
Please note that these non-participation request types should not be created for any of the above reasons until after both the initial and make-up dates have passed. Also, remember that districts should not create non-participation tickets for students who are 100% virtual for the entirety of the test window. Instead, contact the Director of Pupil Personnel (DPP) to make sure that the student is coded correctly in Infinite Campus (IC).
Finally, DO NOT utilize the “Absent on test date and make-up date” non-participation reason at this time. OAA will get this information from IC for this year and match it against information provided by ACT later this summer to determine those.
