Announcing the Spring 2021 Teaching and Learning PL Series: Interpreting and Acting on Evidence of Learning!

The Spring 2021 Teaching and Learning PL Series will pick up where the fall series left off by guiding teachers through the process of interpreting and acting on the evidence of learning they learned to elicit in previous modules.

A professional learning experience will be released each month to support educators with interpreting and acting on evidence of learning. Each professional learning experience will be accompanied by an informational video and will be made available on KYstandards.org. The release of all materials will be communicated first through the Standards Newsletter.

The Teaching and Learning PL Series: Interpreting and Acting on Evidence of Learning schedule is available for download.

The first content-specific modules are designed to address the unique needs of interpreting evidence of student learning. Participants will learn about strategies for interpreting student evidence, engaging students in the interpretation and analysis of their own evidence, using student learning evidence to guide the formative assessment process, and identifying patterns in student responses that can inform teacher and student learning.

Two modules will be released on each of the following dates:

  • Jan. 20:
    • "Interpreting Evidence of Student Learning - Reading & Writing"
    • "Interpreting Evidence of Student Learning - Social Studies"
  • Feb. 17:
    • "Interpreting Evidence of Student Learning - Mathematics"
    • "Interpreting Evidence of Student Learning - Science"

The next content-specific modules are designed to address the unique needs of acting on evidence of student. Participants will learn about the characteristics of meaningful teacher, self and peer feedback, strategies to support meaningful feedback, as well as strategies to adjust instruction based on evidence of student learning.

Two modules will be released on each of the following dates:

  • March 17: "Acting on Evidence of Student Learning (Reading & Writing; Social Studies)"
  • April 21: "Acting on Evidence of Student Learning (Mathematics; Science)"
