Dec. 4, 2020

Teachers Advisory Council to meet virtually Dec. 10

(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Kentucky Department of Education's Teachers Advisory Council will meet virtually Dec. 10 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET.

The Teachers Advisory Council (TAC) is designed to improve the educational landscape of Kentucky by providing the commissioner of education with direct input from Kentucky’s classrooms. Bridging the gap between policy and practice, the TAC was created to advise the commissioner on educational priorities so Kentucky’s students are well-prepared for any career they choose. The ultimate goal is effective teaching in every school, every classroom, every day.

The TAC is comprised of about 20 teacher leaders from across the Commonwealth who contribute crucial, diverse perspectives on education. TAC members should have instructional expertise in various disciplines, grade bands and areas of specialization that represent Kentucky’s varied student population.

Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-243 and a memorandum issued by the Finance and Administration Cabinet dated March 16, 2020, and in an effort to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Teachers Advisory Council will meet via video teleconference.
