Kentucky School for the Blind Advisory Board to meet virtually Oct. 19

(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Kentucky School for the Blind (KSB) Advisory Board will meet virtually Oct. 19. The session is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET.

The Kentucky General Assembly authorized KSB to have an advisory board. While the language in KRS 167.035 is permissive and does not require an advisory board to exist, if such a board is established, the board provides advice to the commissioner of education and KSB administration on how the school can best meet the specialized educational and cultural needs of the students it serves.

The KSB Advisory Board will set aside 30 minutes for receiving public comments. Individuals wishing to address the board must sign up to speak before the meeting begins and provide his or her name and the issue they will speak on.

This information should be sent to Janell Turner, chair of the KSB Advisory Board, at  JanellK.Turner@ky.gov. Individuals addressing the board will be provided five minutes each. The board has the right to set limits on the topics that may be addressed by the public to ensure relevance to the function and purpose of the board.

Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-243 and a memorandum issued by the Finance and Administration Cabinet dated March 16, 2020, and in an effort to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the board will meet via video teleconference.
