Teacher Notes Documents Added to Social Studies Student Assignment Library

Teacher Notes documents have been added to the Social Studies Student Assignment Library webpage for kindergarten through high school.

The documents are designed to support educators in implementing assignments that are strongly aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Social Studies. They provide guidance on how to scaffold student understanding of the inquiry practices and the disciplinary strands referenced in the strongly aligned assignments.

Science Student Work Annotation for Extended Response Questions

The Kentucky Department of Education, in partnership with the Kentucky Science Teachers Association (KSTA), have annotated student work samples for classroom-level tasks.

These annotations are based upon the science rubric for extended response questions on the K-PREP Science Assessment. They demonstrate how this rubric may be used in the classroom, with at least one sample for each grade band.

The annotations may be accessed on the Science Assessment webpage. For more information, email Rae McEntyre at kdescience@education.ky.gov.

Dec. 9: "Eliciting Evidence of Learning"

In the first section of this module, participants will learn about designing and eliciting evidence of student learning aligned to the standards. The module will take a closer look at strategies for eliciting evidence aligned to the depth of the standard and criteria for high-quality classroom assessments.
