COVID-19 Considerations for Reopening Schools: Flexibility for Assigning Staff in the COVID-19 Instructional Setting

KDE releases COVID-19 reopening guidance on assigning staff in instructional settings

(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has released new reopening guidance about assigning staff for instructional settings amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The document, “COVID-19 Considerations for Reopening Schools: Flexibility for Assigning Staff in the COVID-19 Instructional Setting,” acknowledges the need for flexibility when it comes to assigning staff for in-person instruction and provides guidance on dealing with scenarios regarding teacher assignment and certification.

The document includes guidance on digital learning providers, separating one class into multiple rooms and teacher certifications.

As the situation with the pandemic evolves, KDE is creating new guidance documents to meet the needs of Kentucky’s schools and districts. More guidance and resources can be found on KDE’s COVID-19 webpage.
