K Screen Refresher Webcast
The Brigance K Screen Refresher webcast is now available on the Kentucky Department of Education's Media Portal webpage.
District trainers must view this webcast to fulfill the annual training requirement. One hour of EILA credit is available after viewing this webcast. Please contact Jennifer Akin to request a certificate.
K Screen Materials Shipment Update
The Brigance K Screen materials will arrive in districts the week of June 8-12. All materials will be shipped directly to district central office or warehouse. The materials will arrive presorted by location.
K Screen Training Change
The July 22 Training of Trainers session scheduled in Frankfort will now be provided virtually by Curriculum Associates. This six-hour session is for district administrators that will train other staff to administer the Brigance screener.
K Screen Brigance OMS Staff File Now Available
In order to build the Online Management System (OMS) staff file for the 2020-2021 school year, the existing staff file must be edited. The district assessment coordinator (DAC) must access the spreadsheet from the KDE secure web applications site and choose Student Data Detail (Excel and PDF). The staff file is included in one zip: SD21_districtnumber_K_Sreeen _Users_DistrictName_20200420.xlsx.
The district’s spreadsheet will be pre-populated with the information originally submitted for the 2019-2020 school year. The spreadsheet provides a list of staff with specific roles that Curriculum Associates will use to build the Brigance OMS each year. In addition, the spreadsheet has been updated to include staff communication preferences, explained on the information tab of the spreadsheet. Please review and make any corrections or additions as needed. Please email the updated staff file by June 15 to KDE Assessment.

K Screen Implementation Guide (Repeat)
The 2020-2021 K Screen implementation guide is now available on the Common Kindergarten Entry Screener webpage. This guide includes new and updated information regarding the screening process for the coming school year.
Parent Resources (Repeat)
Kindergarten teachers with Brigance Online Management System (OMS) access can provide information and activities to support families of kindergarten students. These parent resources can be found within the Family Connections selection under the Resources tab in the OMS.
The COVID-19 Resources for Assessment and Accountability webpage also highlights a variety of resources for educators and parents, including resources for kindergarten readiness.
Prior Setting Form (Repeat)
The prior setting form and Spanish form are available on the Common Kindergarten Entry Screener webpage. Remember, you may collect prior settings information at any time, not only during the screening window. It is recommended that you include this form in your kindergarten registration packet.
